Safire6 Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 AMT kit, 1/25 scale. Just finished this today. Painted Testors "Flaming Orange". I lost one of the carbs and had a bit of trouble with the windshield but overall I like how it came out. My parents gave me a "gas" powered orange Cox dune buggy (probably about 1/12 scale) for Christmas about 55 years ago and I wanted to try to simulate that. 10
TarheelRick Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Nice buggy. The color fits it very well. A little over three years ago, on my school bus route there was a Manx (or Manx lookalike) sitting out in a cow pasture. It had been there awhile. I almost asked about it, but I figured sitting out in the sun that long the fiberglass would be quite deteriorated.
DJMar Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 That orange is perfect for this, it looks like scale flake. Kowabunga!
Phildaupho Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Very nice Manx and great to see the old COX box. Did you save that box all these years?

David G. Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Nicely done! It is a bit of a fiddly kit but it does build up well. Yours looks great. David G.
TooOld Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Well done Steve , orange is the perfect color for these ! I also had an orange Cox Dune Buggy way back when and it was a blast !

espo Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Great looking paint color and finish. The engine and chassis look well done.
karbuildr Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 Very cool Manx. These things were everywhere back in the day and yours looks like it belongs on the beach.

I agree, before taking those pics, I was thinking about where I could find some sand to photograph it on, but couldn't come up with anything quickly. Ulf Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Very nice build, not an easy kit either for that matter. You have really captured the feel of the early buggies. Fifteen years ago I was asked if I might be interested in a genuine Meyers body but at the time there was no room or funds.
Street Rod Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Excellent! The paint is very 1960’s. Looks era correct.
JJ Deuce Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 nice work! I built one last year in the same color.
Safire6 Posted December 10, 2024 Author Posted December 10, 2024 Thanks everyone! One thing it had to have, in my mind, was a proper glitter paint job. Nothing else would do.
