I'm going to cut and form another piece of clear styrene. What's the trick to bending and avoiding white marks in the bend? Make a buck to heat styrene over it or vacu-form the glass 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 The clear looks good 👍🏻 It looks really good in the sun! Lil buffing and itll be real nice. 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 Working on the chassis details so I can get the wheels on. The passenger side exhaust manifold isn't aligned for the pipes to clear. Gotta adjust that. 2
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 This stuff is messy, but it sure does look good. 2
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 I really like the color of the '70 455s. I think it will look great under this silver hood. I painted the calipers with Tamiya flat red, the put clear red over that. 2
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Productive day. The distributor and wires are installed with separators and hold down! That bolt head is tinier than tiny! I've got some detail painting to do under the hood. I need to cut the exhaust pipes even, add the red stripe to the side, glass, assemble, decals, lights.....I think that's it. Then I can jump on the ZL1. 3
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Got under hood details and window trim painted. Hope to have it mostly completed tomorrow 😁 2
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Well dad burn it! I filled the 2 sink holes in the bottom of the trunk wing. I haven't painted it yet, so, I drilled the holes in the deck lid for the pins on the wing. I didn't see the other set of holes because I painted over them testing my black paint mixture. 🤕 The 2 sets of holes isn't mentioned in the instructions. I should've looked.....
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Not perfect, but passable in my book. Sanded to 12,000 then polished with Novus 1 & 2. 1
NOBLNG Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Coming along nicely. Hopefully the wing covers the extra holes?😬 1

TopherMcGinnis Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 I love the Testors light paints. I applied the red stripe in Testors red enamel. I used tape, but its still a little messy. I'm going to tidy it up after I do the side stripe. I applied Modge Podge Dimensional Magic to the rear window. We'll see if it helps brighten it up some 😁
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 13 Author Posted January 13 The rear glass looks better with the Modge Podge on the inside. Few small details left and this one is done. 4
gman Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Oldsmobile should have offered this configuration- your version looks excellent. 1
Zippi Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Looking pretty sweet there Topher. That red pen strip really does the trick. 1
Scott8950 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Nice job... A guy down the road from me owns the Pontiac aero coupe 2+2. 1
TopherMcGinnis Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Ya know how sometimes you knock it out of the park on the 1st try, and then can't get the ball past home plate the 2nd swing? Oh well. Little sanding should straighten it up.
