ModelcarJR Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I haven't been on this forum for about a month because on or about November 20th, I received a message from this website that it had been hacked and the forum was moving to new servers. Ever since then I have been trying to log on with no result other than timing out. I got in touch with someone else on the site and he said it was working. So, I had to call the Geek Squad to get me back on this website. Strange to say the least. But I still have been busy building and here is a Heller kit that I have had for at least 35 years, unsealed in the closet. I was concerned with the decals and if they would work but I gave them a coat of clear lacquer and although they were a bit yellowed they worked fine for the most part. Its built box stock and the paint is Tamiya Light Blue and Yellow. Fairly complicated instructions but I got through them and it built up fine despite its lack of pins, etc. Thanks for looking! 😎 6
Phildaupho Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Great to see a Jack Brabham driven race car. I was a big fan of Jack. Only saw him race once at the 1967 Canadian GP.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Great build an of F-1 machine when they were simple and pure. Thanks for showing your build!
bbowser Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Really nice work! I've built this and it's not easy, being a Heller kit.
Matt Bacon Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 (edited) That looks brilliant… great job. Those Heller kits aren’t exactly shake ‘n’ bake, but in the right hands they do give you all you need for an accurate and good looking model. If you fancied having Jack aboard, the Immense Miniatures figures range in 1/24 includes a set of beautifully sculpted heads for different stages of his career, and a driver body to put one on… best, M. TonyK Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 Great looking model. I have a couple of Heller F1 cars that are half done. As others have said, they aren't the easiest models to build but they did some unique cars like this one. I enjoyed looking at it.
ModelcarJR Posted December 21, 2024 Author Posted December 21, 2024 Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your comments!
1959scudetto Posted December 21, 2024 Posted December 21, 2024 John, this is a great model of Jack's last GP season: with a little more luck he could have won 3 races: ran out of gas in the last lap at Brands Hatch (your model), slid into the barrier in Monaco's last corner (both times Rindt won, Brabham took 2nd each), but was a winner in the opener at Kyalami. Anyway, this is a very nice rendition of the Brabham BT 33, made from a certainly not-so-easy Heller kit: despite their delicate supensions, you even managed to put all 4 wheels on the ground !
