oldcarfan Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I got the new body shell prepped and painted. Used the last of the Go Mango, but I made it. Looking at the picture I can see a sink mark I missed, but I'll have to let it go since I can't repaint again. 4
iamsuperdan Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Body printed. Needs sanding and cleanup. Having a lot of print failures though on other parts. Need to sort that out. 7

stitchdup Posted February 1 Posted February 1 made a little progress on the engine. the esi/italeri kits are missing a lot of parts such as the alternator, water intake and fuel system so i used a mix of printed and scratched parts to create these. I've also swapped chassis as i was well outside the 1974 period. On the replacement chassis i have added extra bracing underneath and run some 3mm box along the inside to add strength to the shell as there is no seperate chassis. next up is another cage, opening up the trunk area on the chassis and more engine work. the engine set back should make this handle like a go cart and mean theres no need for a big spoiler on the back 3
Pat Minarick Posted February 1 Posted February 1 (edited) Did a quick build last weekend for the 24 hour challenge and working this weekend. Might get a little build time in later today. Edited February 1 by Pat Minarick 5

Beans Posted February 1 Posted February 1 It took every bit of patience I could muster but I finally got the wiring done. Now to determine if I want to punish myself even more and do fuel lines.......... 4

Fuel lines would look super but no one wold miss them either I am practicing my patience with my 1/350 Tirpitz and al the tiny brass pieces I am adding. There is a thread under "All the rest". My eyes get to work hard to get it done ! 1

My eyes get to work hard to get it done ! Thank you. I already gave up on the fuel lines. HA! I avoid ship models of any kind for that exact reason. I have a wooden sailing ship kit around here somewhere that never made it past basic hull assembly. 1

oldcarfan Posted February 5 Posted February 5 I got the roll bar done and in place. I planned to use the one provided with the kit, but like this one more. I also built a round fuel cell to go in the spare tire well. It's based on one I saw in an old SCCA photo. I figure that along with the stock tank should be enough to allow for a decent range. And finally, I got the new shell back from the paint shop. I used up the last of the Go Mango, so I'll have to be extra careful with this one! 4

White Rabbit Posted February 6 Posted February 6 Now that I've completed the project I was working on, a second gen NSX (with a Cannonball connection that I'll be posting in the coming days), I've begun work on the Alpine. First, the wheels. The wheels (still in-progress) are the French Madin 1C in the stock 13" size. I'm planning on using the kit tires as they are nicely detailed. 3

Mattilacken Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 17 hours ago, Rescued customs said: ? 70s type 2 nascar disc brakes are they allowed ? Yes they should be ok I have AMT T-bird Stockcar brakes from a way newer kit in my plan, i mean most brakes are more or less the same from what i had on my 1977 Malibu to what i had on my 4gen camaro, single piston caliper with a disc. Just the looks, dimensions, materials and sow on that might differ, at least in my pov.

Thanks for your input too I went ahead and continued the build while waiting for an answer if it DQs the model I’ll take the hit and build something else . 1
Keef Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Managed to get some primer sprayed and a few blemishes fixed. Got a rollbar installed for safety. Is this the final color? Stay tuned to see…. 3
