That Plasticated Guy Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Hello, all. If any of you remember I had posted about having trouble masking my projects. First, I want to thank everyone for their advice and I'm applying the one thing that was repeated: patience. ๐ Anyway, I was using some Goo Gone in an attempt to remove the tape stuff along with a few other methods and noticed that it removed the paint and primer down to the plastic. So I did an experiment to see if it would be an effective paint stripper. The results are yes and no. The stuff will remove paint from a body or an engine or what-have-you within a day. There will be a slick film covering the piece when you first rinse the piece off, but a soak in some soapy water, another rinse and let air dry and you're good to go. Now, it will also strip chrome, but that might take longer. And as for paint on clear parts, forget it. It won't remove it. The best parts about this stuff is that it can be used again and again and using gloves or employing a method where you have to worry about getting it on your skin is optional. So, it's hassle free, fast stripping time, and able to be used multiple times. It's definitely a good alternative to the purple stuff normally used for this type of situation. 2
Hi-Po Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Good information.ย I will have to give it a try on a couple of stalled projects.
slusher Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 never would have guessed it! ย Thank for let us know!ย
Kit Basher Posted December 24, 2024 Posted December 24, 2024 Just don't confuse it with "Goof Off". That stuff will dissolve plastic in a heartbeat. Don't ask me how I know. 1 1
