My hood from Plaskit arrived today, beautifully cast as norm. I'll need to score the panel line for the grill surround before painting. 20250102_160035.thumb.jpg.4341d5e78a89df9c5436751c8c67e279.jpg

Now to get back to working on this before the squirrels find something else

I bought sets from CTM as well as Kit Form Services - the ones from KFS are a bit more substantial and a bit more depth in the detail

I've used the KFS sets for years, but I like those CTM slam locks, first I've seen of them. They have some different styles to choose from compared to KFS.

I couldn't stand it any longer, I had to tape everything up for a mock up. I was impressed how different the longer hood made the Ford appear..now I know I'm on the right track. 20250104_135825.thumb.jpg.3b31e0154d3026485477b15aaea10746.jpg

While I had everything together I decided to try out my new airbrush, a Gaahleri swallowtail. Priming a few cursory plastic spoons, followed up w scale finishes safely lime yellow. Just the color I was hoping for 20250104_181251.thumb.jpg.e8d8b74ef3c1dc481251aeb20618ce92.jpg

Your cab and new hood combo is going to look great in that Safety Lime - sure wouldn’t miss that coming down the road at you!

Hood looks good and crisp and clean glad he’s still casting it. I almost bought one last summer but back out. Maybe one day I’ll get one.

Going to look good in the color Jeff something different besides red we’re used to.

Yes it does. The mock up looks great and I like how you used the six spoke wheels from the Mack R kit showing it has a heavier lb. front Axle. Those six spokes wheels make a difference on these  Louisvilles. I have a set I’m using for a Louisville Dump Truck I was working on. Thanks for sharing Jeff.

Here's hoping that the orange of the Ford cab does not bleed through the yellow you are proposing.  Be sure to use a good barrier first. Perhaps it is not as much a possibility as it is with red bleed through.  Keep up posted!

Good point! I'll probably use the spare white cab I have to avoid issues

I was tempted to use red, but looking over my display I noticed a trend lol. Tamiya mica red seems to be a favorite of mine

Jeff do mine me asking where you got your light bar?

Plaskit has them, and multiple color options. Hes going to be on vacation for a stretch soon, in case you were hoping to order one.

Okay, I need some help...I'm stumped for ideas to hinge the hood . I thought using a tube across frame, w paper clip hinges would work. Theres not room for hood to open w frame. Heres what I have right now..20250109_140934.thumb.jpg.5eebeac7ad0f9961a86e9bd6d13da1b3.jpg

What would you think about making the hinge point for the hood at the bottom edge of the hood and lower edge of your frame rail extension?  Just make the notches for hinge in your frame extension low enough on the end of the rail to match up with the bottom edge of your hood.  Might need to round off the bottom corners of your frame extension, but should be able to make it work. That way, the hood could tilt forward and not by affected by frame.  Don't know what it would be like in real life, but I'm sure you could make the hinge hidden from view and get your hood to tilt ok.

@BK9300 thanks for suggestion, I just need to keep enough frame for bumper to attach. I didn't realize this kit didn't have a real hinge point, just knobs that rested in pockets.

Either way I guess I'll need to notch frame for room to tilt, hood fits fairly well to cowl now..fairly well like resin does
