Madhatter Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 hey guys Hope you all had a nice xmas? This was my gift to myself - the new Tamiya 911 GT3 RS kit. As expected with Tamiya, everything fits nicely, although I did encounter issues fitting the rear wing. Painted in Alclad Candy Red over some Gunze Metallic red (one of their Gundam colour range), SMS 2k Clear coat and lots of polishing. During the weekend, I had to move my display cabinet, so I had to take out the kits inside it to move it (naturally), Anyways, my son took all the cars out and laid them out on display on the dinning room table, and he added a couple of his cars as well. Looks pretty expensive I must say: Anywho, that's it for now, but as always, thanks for stopping in and looking. I'm sure we'll see a plethora of these 911 kits in the months to come Si 13
beeRS Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Wow. The candy red looks amazing. I think this is the first one of these new Tamiyas I’ve seen built up. I received mine the other day, and I’m still trying to decide what colour to use. I also forecast a lot of these being built and shown here. The dining table collection looks impressive. 1
70 Sting Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Beautiful candy paint. Super build. ❤️ Oh yeah, nice collection as well. 1
catpack68 Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Very nice work! I’m going to have to pick up a couple of those kits. 1
SpikeSchumacher Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Beautiful job on this Simon! Have one on order and will probably start it after my current build is complete. I will make sure to keep an eye on that rear wing. I don't suppose it can be built without it? Cheers, Mathias 1

Cheers, Mathias Funny you should say that. The rear wing was the very last item I put on and before I did it, I was thinking "without it, it actually looks really good" and you could go that route but you need to fill in the space where the braces slot into. The only thing this kit is missing right now is a Hobby Design PE and resin detail up set and a full carbon decal sheet from a good decal maker. Oh, and some more choices in the lettering colours wouldn't go a miss either 1 1
kelson Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 Looks amazing!, i have a couple in the stash,i saw one built on youtube in Ruby Star,so i'm gonna copy that and saw this one on facebook a couple months ago.😁 2

Madhatter Posted December 31, 2024 Author Posted December 31, 2024 thank you guys for your kind feedback, most appreciated Be warned: Tamiya's decals do NOT like to stretch: there's a crack in the decal on the roof as a result from over stretching the decals limits and that's why I can't now enter it into any shows which is a shame as the paint work is much better in person than what I could capture on my S21. Speaking of phones, I may need to do a re-shoot as the phone camera, whilst providing nice sharp images - tends to over saturate the colour. So, on my phone, it looks nice and rich but on my laptop, it doesn't show the same luster or vibrancy as the phone and in this case, the phone images are actually closer to life than what the laptop shows (cooler and not as vibrant). Usually, its the other way around and I edit any images on my laptop as they are more to life, but not so in this case.
