Pete68 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 After 9 years just sitting on the shelf not finished today it is. This build was a first for me in a lot of ways. This was my first AC Mack in 1/24 scale I built and the first to put Pneumatic Tires on a 1/24 AC and upgrade it. I got the kit off of eBay and I when I got it I didn’t realize that the box looked like it was in a fire with smoke damage. The frame was already built and was very warped making it difficult for me to build especially when I never built one. Thanks to Dave (AITM) the day I call him 9 years ago and told him my idea about this build he told me the exact tires and wheels to use and sent me a pair of Headlight’s and bracelets for it free. I opted out on using the Headlight’s from Dave for someday I might use them on another AC build I have in mind. I miss Dave and the talks we would have about Mack Trucks and Building Model’s of them. Enjoy the pics. 10 Quote
Jim B Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Your Mack looks great. nice upgrade with the pneumatic tires. 1 Quote
stavanzer Posted January 3 Posted January 3 That is Cool. Those are the Exact Wheel/Tire castings that I never ordered from Dave. If AITM has them this time, I'm getting a couple sets. Your build looks great! I like the pale sand finish, and the Red wheels. The Contrast is sharp looking. Good Show. 3 Quote

I remember when you built one of these and it turned out nice I liked it. The wheels and tires gives it a whole different look. Thanks for stopping by. 2 1 Quote

I hope AITM gets going some day I still have things on my list to get from them. When I got the truck painted and the wheels and tires put on I mocked it up and sent Dave some pics he also liked the paint colors I chose. I wish I would have kept going and finished it so he could have seen the end results. Thanks for stopping by. 1 Quote

I'd like to build another & back date it somehow to 1917-ish to show it in US Army service during WWI. 1 Quote
Warren D Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Looks good. AITM is coming back, supposedly first quarter 2025 with some limited offerings. He's supposedly going to gradually build out the entire line but no idea how long that will take. 1 Quote

Dave had the molds to do that truck but when he moved he missed place them but said he would keep looking for me and I was making a order with him one day he said he found them that he would cast some up then Covid hit and he got buried with orders and I just gave up because he was so busy then he sold the company to Doug. Firebuilder Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Excellent build. You don’t see a lot of these older trucks being built, so it is nice to see. Dom 1 Quote

Ace-Garageguy Posted January 9 Posted January 9 Great build. Like everyone said, the tires change the look entirely. I've been wanting to do one of the Hoover Dam APs. Quote

I’ve seen lots of pics old BW and new ones that they done this way and always wanted to try it. If you ever decide to build the AP Hoover Dam ones and never seen Charles’ (Chariots of fire) one check his out or reach out to him. He and I think a friend of his built a outstanding looking one very high end details and lots of Fab. work they put into it. If you have seen their build it’s worth a look. 1 Quote
