Hello everyone,

I took on an old  kit from AMT. It is the Chevy Nova 76 in the "Street Machine" version. Since the kit only contains parts for a drag version, but I wanted to build a largely stock version, I had to use some parts from the '72 Chevy Nova SS (AMT also) kit. This affected the wheels and tires as well as the back seat.

I replaced the very poorly fitting glass part from the kit with inserts I made myself from transparent Evergreen Sheet.
Since the kit and its chassis were only designed for the drag version, I had to scratch build a mount to hold the stock wheels and tires.
The exterior mirrors, the gear stick and the decals for the tire labeling came from the parts box.

The boday was painted in light ivory and chocolate brown, 1K clear coat on top of that.

The model is inspired by a corresponding vehicle from the TV series "The Americans":

I didn't manage to compensate all downsides of the kit, but I hope there is some similarity to the original car.

Great looking stock Nova. The paint looks nice and smooth, and the brown shade was a popular color at that time. Trim is cleanly done.

You got the 'look' right the first time. Cross-kitting the '72 & '76 worked like a charm. That is an excellent replica.

Good Show.
