A lot of kits have not much more than a lump for a rad cap. Here is how I make better ones. Glue two pieces of 0.030” or 0.040” half round to a piece of 0.080” round stock. Drill a 0.020”-0.030” (depending on what small styrene rod you have) hole in the center and countersink it slighty with a 1/16” drill bit. Slice off a sliver (I used a razor saw to get a straight cut). Push the small rod in flush to the top (you can add a small spacer if to want to add an overflow tube). Drill a mounting hole in the rad and glue in place. Keep the leftover chunk for the next time you need one.🙂

Amazing how something as simple as a proper radiator cap can add so much to an engine bay. Thanks for the tutorial.

Greg, as mentioned above, your tips, tricks and tutorials are always fantastic. Thanks for sharing. I will DEFINITELY be using this one. I particularly like that with how you did this, it’s kind of mass production. Just trim one off as needed, a real time saver. Thanks again sir.

This is awesome!!!   i just went and made a lifetime supply.   Only thing was i didnt have 030 halfround so i used 040, and my 080 round is a bit bigger, so my caps are a bit on the larger size.  gotta find some smaller stuff, but everyone seems to be out of stock of plastruct and evergreen these days.
