I was going to do that Jeff but changed my mind.

Jeff what was the Mixer company name you built a couple years ago on our BRBO it was a Brockway with pit fenders seems it was Green and Red drum. Can you post a pic. Then we’ll get back on topic 😂

Time to build the Engine. When building these R Models I always like using my Original instructions I have from the first R model I built back in 1984 although I could probably done it  I’m sure without them but I still like  to use them. These old instructions to me are more simplified and easy specially pre-1978 when  matchbox bought AMT and revamp some of the instructions and in 1980 when they came out with the updated version of the Mack R model and added the round fuel tanks and a chrome package. I appreciate Round2 for  bringing these kits back but to me adding all the in-depth things to do in the instructions these days I think makes it more confusing for the modeler. I understand why they do it because the Times we live in today basic fundamentals of building a model went out the window not like how us old model builders did back in the day when we use our brain to build a model.

Okay, you hooked another fish. I like Mack's ( my favourite is the Superliner E9). Great start, I'll be following.🍿🥤🍫

Ron G

Welcome aboard Ron glad to have you. As you might can tell I like them too. Superliners and the Superliners II are nice trucks E9 was a good V8 engine but I prefer a in-line engine in a Diesel any day.

Not to get off topic. But I sure wish someone would make a accurate 1/24 Mack Superliner complete frame.  If not a complete one how about just the frame rails. Then you could build a nice truck from the Italeri/AMT kits. Okay, back to your post.

Yes it would not too familiar with Italeri kit I had one but didn’t like it for that reason.

I wish someone would come out with some Mack Western Straight frame rails in 1/25 scale. With using the AMT kits Cruiseliner and a R Model you are limited to a Eastern Mack with that frame.

Oh man your talking about my Barney Dickenson mixer....funny story. They decided to scrap all the retired fleet a few yrs ago. Word got out around  Huskytown, and they were allowed to take any parts to save the history, or keep their trucks running. One truck was sold, and shown during the yearly homecoming. I ran into the owner at a model show...my model was loosely based off his truck lol. Anyway heres the truck20210814_115017.thumb.jpg.9929471d0cead655dfcd4dca60a6ba5d.jpg

That’s it!!!  I was talking to Scott about it on his Thread because he post this pick of the coolest LJ I’ve ever seen the fenders reminds me of that Brockway. Jeff thanks a million and sharing that story. I remember seeing pics of all those Brockways just sitting not running anymore somewhere

Picture is copied righted by the owner and is for reference only

Tomorrow I’ll be addressing this Elephant in the room that’s holding me up to get my corrected WB. Theses are some major pin marks. My old kit doesn’t have these just shows how much these molds are failing.  I still really like this truck I’ll fight all of it’s issues it has.

Last re-pop R Mack I built was a struggle too

Yes Jeff it’s the molds. I got one I opened and half of the right fender on the hood wasn’t developed. I didn’t care because the running gear was a donor. I’m just glad we have it.

Thanks Warren. Do you think it’s better that the one that’s in the kit? I have the kit one just don’t know if I want to use it.

As far as I'm concerned, yes.  However, that is based on what was used in New England in the 70's-2000's.  There are still some out there but they are being replaced by newer technologies.  I have some pics of the one I built for a municipal (and State DOT) plow:  https://pbase.com/baywing/int2500

Boy oh boy can I relate to it. I have an eye condition that makes everything blurry and a severe back issue. I can only do about 4 - 5 hours at the bench before the pain is to much. It really sucks getting old.😒😏😉

Yep Scott I feel your pain. I’ve had it since I was 11 years old and had to pick the worst jobs Trucking and Farming but I wouldn’t change a thing.

Not much progress hope to get more done after while. I dug through my parts box and found a unbuilt Mack bogey original one so I used it instead of the latest issued one playing it safe that this mold wasn’t wore out like the new one.

Finished up the tank/cab crossmember also and thinned the tank mounts down after I filled the injector pin marks.
