Helveg Posted January 16 Posted January 16 With this topic I'd like to start another Salvinos JR project. This time it'll be Austin version of Joey Logano Penske Ford Mustang 2023 season. Happy with body fitment test. Still long journey ahead. 4
MarkJ Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Really love the added detail, Oleg. Very clean work as well. The switch box is amazing. I know what you mean about long journey with these models, but it will all be worth it at the end with this fine build you have here. 1

Quite happy working on this project - a lot of opportunities to develop the parts at their maximum detail. Can't wait to get to "marriage" with the body. Still a lot of interior works remain.

Yes, Oleg. You are so right about that. I figured out a way to marry the body and chassis together but still be able to display them apart, so all that fine detail is not hidden. You just create a notch at the front of the body that the chassis goes into. I can show you how I did it or you can probably figure it out for yourself. Just let me know. Of course, my detail doesn't come close to yours in something worth seeing but I went ahead and figured it out anyway. The engineers of the kit could have built it into the kit if they had wanted to and really should have. The old kits used to be that way back in the day. 1

Will really appreciate if you share the way you managed to put the body! I should admit that the kit is quite precise to have it placed on top of the floor plate without any gaps under the condition that the floor is properly glued to the cage. The only gaps you unavoidably have are on both sides of the floor where it attached to the body at the jack spot places. But these are hidden when the model is exposed on the wheels or the jacks. I have no issues with this and can dismantle the body at any time. This time I will do the model with wheels attached. Will see how it appears 🙂
MarkJ Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Okay, Oleg. They must have improved the chassis to body fit since I built my two next gen cars two years ago right after they were available. Both of them had a huge gap between the front of the chassis and the body. You won't need to do anything to your builds. I'm still tuned in and waiting to see your finished products. Model on fellow builder of the scale styrene kits. So many builds so little time. 1
Helveg Posted February 3 Author Posted February 3 Time for the update. Happy to have it on the wheels. I have produced less details as before cause it will be covered with the body cowling. I plan to keep both hoods open to expose the engine bay and the fuel tank area. 2
MarkJ Posted February 3 Posted February 3 Very impressive, Oleg. Probably the most detailed next gen build I have ever seen. So, is chassis complete?

Thank you so much! yes, this chassis is done - now I'm working on the body. Hope to have the final outcome very soon!
MarkJ Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Sounds good. Will be looking forward to it. If you put it in the under-glass forum, post a link here for easy access by me and others who wish to see the final photos. Thank you.
Helveg Posted February 8 Author Posted February 8 It's so close to completion. I have decided to open the trunk and scratch build the wind shield wiper. The hood and antennas remain. 2
MarkJ Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Great job on the wiper and wiper motor. I could never get a good reference shot of the motor on the ones I did. Both cars I did were road course cars, so they had the wipers on them.
cifenet Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Fantastic details and quality build. Carbon fiber decals look great too. Well done, I really enjoyed seeing all the detail work here as well.

I'm partially using as the ref this site: https://cars.bonhams.com/auction/30209/lot/29/2022-ford-mustang-nascar-nextgen-cup-car-chassis-no-030-engine-no-555/#photos And I have also reproduced the mudguards behind thу back wheels but they are hardly visible. I will do bottom pics where they can be visible.
MarkJ Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Thanks for the link, Oleg. Lots of great reference shots there. Still couldn't find one of the wiper motor.

Yes, I just realised that wiper motor was taken from other pics, here they are (you will need to zoom these pics to see the detail better): 1
MarkJ Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Thanks Oleg. That very last one you posted is the best and I'm keeping that for my files, if I decide to build another Ross Chastain road course winner, and if he wins another one. But it seems they leave the motor in these even if they aren't road course cars.

Helveg Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Happy to finish this project same day as Daytona 500 started. Now can call it done! 2
