Radretireddad Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hot off the bench is my Revell 1993 Honda Civic coupe from their tuner series. Except for filling in the holes in the trunk lid to go wingless, and cutting out the openings in the front bumper cover so I could add a pair of driving lights, it’s completely OTB. I’ve had a soft spot for this kit for a long time and since it can’t be built stock the challenge was keeping it as toned down as possible while maintaining some cool factor. Color is Tamiya Gold leaf on the body and a 70/30 mix of Tamiya gold leaf and metallic bronze on the wheels. The toughest part of the build was masking the one piece glass to paint it the three required colors. I used a combination of liquid mask and masking tape to paint the borders black, the headliner gray and the sunroof clear smoke. Thanks for looking. 11
espo Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Great looking paint color and finish. I like how you didn't use the tuner wing on the trunk, the natural body lines look better to my eye anyway. The chassis is cleanly done and the interior looks good as well.
Jim Dodson Posted January 19 Posted January 19 A friend forever prejudiced me against the monstrous tuner wings by calling them convenient built-in carrying handles. LOL Nicely built model, I really like it. Well done.
galaxyg Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Great looking Civic and very tidy on the masking. Shame these kits are not so common, they're one of the few Honda kits with an engine.
shoopdog Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Very nice, not a subject we see here often. Thanks for posting it.

Yeah, leaving the ridiculous wings off the trunk and painting the clear stock hood really kept things tidy. Thanks David.

I’m glad I grabbed all the kits in the series when they were on the shelves because reissues aren’t likely anytime soon. Thanks Michael!

oldcarfan Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I love what you did with this kit! Revell really did a good job on these kits. The tuner parts are a little over the top for these days, but they sure looked good back when things were fast and furious.

Think what you will about them but I think they remain a legitimate chapter in American hot rodding that deserves to be chronicled in scale. I’m really glad I grabbed all of them when they were out.
