Simo5555 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hi! Picked this one up from Facebook Marketplace - should be a quick and fun build. So lets see how this one goes 8
Simo5555 Posted January 25 Author Posted January 25 Did a bit of wetsanding And some painting And started doing the interior 5
Simo5555 Posted February 2 Author Posted February 2 Decided to redo the interior. The custom mix wasnt as good as i wouldve liked. Was just too yellow. I wanted it to be a bit more like a lamborghini cream leather. So i did another mix 😁 First, i did some more sanding - there was still some flashing left from before. After that, i dipped everything into the DOT4 oil Then i resanded and sprayed everything with white primer And i resprayed it 😁 Then it was time for bodywork. I found a small dent on the rear deck. So i used some putty and sanded it smooth Then reprimed it with white primer And then it was time for some painting 😁 Dont worry, it wont stay this yellow for long 5
Simo5555 Posted February 4 Author Posted February 4 Day 2 of painting Some daylight pictures Then the second part of this paint Looks like a brick of toffee 🙃 5
Simo5555 Posted February 9 Author Posted February 9 Had some major airbrush issues this week. My airbush started sputtering ever so slightly - didnt noticed it at first, but felt like something was wrong when i did my second coat of paint. It left a really rough surface on the paint. Took it apart, deep cleaned everything, but was still the same. Eventually found out that a bit of paint had leaked into the air valve compartment. So after another deep cleaning session, everything was fine again... But not without some damage You can see it on the engine Decided to leave it as is - it'll get covered later anyway. Unfortunately, i had to redo the bodywork. So the body got stripped and another sanding-priming session. This time, everything went smooth as butter. Then did some tape work on the interior And some painting And this is how it turned out 4
PowerPlant Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Got the same kit in the stash, so nice to see yours coming along for some future inspiration. 1

Seems like a nice solid kit. A bit lacking in details on the engine side, but the body looks so nice. Finally got a new brush - the tamiya's modeling Pro II. So had to try it out on the interior 😁 1
Simo5555 Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 The engine bay lacks details so i have to improvise a bit. Played around with the carbod decals a bit. Will have to search my parts box - maybe i can add some more stuff to it. Also did the first coat of paint - this time, came out nice and smooth And did some test fitting of the interior tub. Looks pretty cool already
Simo5555 Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 (edited) Interior is done 😁 well, almost Edited February 19 by Simo5555 2

(dont hate me) I realised after posting the question that it wasn't a Staintune exhaust. D'oh! The Staintune sounds amazing - but it is pricey. Miss my VFR (though the fuelling was rubbish!). 1

Anyway, the body is clearcoated Came out pretty nice. Would've liked it to be a bit more orange, but i really like it this way too. 2
