JollySipper Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I guess this topic can go along with the classic car one! I'll start.......... The 1961-1971 Dodge D100 pickups. I've been around a few of them, even had one myself when I was in my early 20s. Just a handsome pickup........... ย 4
Falcon Ranchero Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Awesome thread idea; Most fav truck o' mine is the '57 Sweptside Dodges 5

They featured these trucks one issue. Dodge had a good idea with these, just putting a station wagon quarter panel on a step-side bed.......... Changed the whole look of the truck! 1
VanGoGo Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I like the '67 to '72 C-10 Chevys, easy to work on, roomy cab, nice ride and just a good all around basic truck that still had metal in it. 5

Yeah I thought that was such a cool idea; a truck with fins. Also the front end look of the '57 was a one year thing; they got a little ugly in '58-'60. But then the '61 Sweptlines came out and those looked pretty cool. I noticed that gen is your favourite. Ever hear of the "Dude" package?ย 3
iamsuperdan Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Well, these are over 30 years old now, so I'd say they can qualify as classics! The GM "OBS" body trucks have been my fav body style truck since I first saw them, and still are to this day. ย ย ย Now, if you going to nitpick and say a classic has to be older than me, then it would have to be the 5th gen Ford F-Series. 5

They were all long beds, I believe.......... The standard engine for the Dude was the 383, if I remember right. Then you had the Custom Sport Special, which could be had with the street wedge engine! Imagine a full-fledged muscle car engine in your pickup.......... ย 2
Fat Brian Posted January 23 Posted January 23 Bullnose Fords have to be my favorite. I grew up in an 84, it was the first new vehicle my dad ever bought. ย Another personal favorite is squarebody Chevys. I've had an 85 GMC pickup and an 88 GMC Suburban over the years. 4
89AKurt Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I'm extremely biased because I own one!ย ๐ย I was born 7 years before this rolled off the line, I crack up thinking it's a "classic", anything before 1960 is a classic to me. There is a car lot in Prescott that sells old vehicles, for more than they're worth, so I'm safe.ย This is a Ford I could dig having. But I still like the Advanced Design pickups.ย I had a '48 5 Window last century, which I never was able to fix up, the guy who sold it sent pictures after he was done, and I suspect this is it!ย Saw it at Valle (south of Grand Canyon). I like Studebakers, and the Dodge Sweptside too.ย But who knows, I might see something that will make me loose my mind, again.ย ๐ ย Like a '55 Chevy Cameo, blew getting one before the '48. 3
Chuckyg1 Posted January 24 Posted January 24 When it comes to trucks, I find myself drawn to the trucks in the back ground, as opposed to the sales leaders, or odd balls. Some have more personality and styling. There's others, but I'll leave it at these. 64 Studebaker Champ, 37 Chevy Suburban and a 47 Diamond T 4
Keef Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Favorite classic truck? Why none other than a 1979 Dodge Power Wagon, Ramcharger, or Plymouth TrailDuster. That quad headlight grille is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!ย ย I have owned numerous ones of these over the years, I loved them all. 2
Brutalform Posted January 24 Posted January 24 Any of the older Jeep vehicles that had this killer looking front. Then they changed the front to other grills, but you could remove them and this one still lies beneath. I always thought these vehicles looked very tough.ย 6

I have 2: an '89 GMC 305-5 speed longbed stripper (fleet truck with GM's self-stripping white paint) that was on its way to the crusher (bought it for $100, fixed most of the mechanical stuff, still running like a champ 14 years on), and a '92 Silverado that was a clean-looking older truck that had been "worked on" by just about every chimp in town. Bought it for the cost of the trans that had just been put in it, as the owner thought it was becoming a "money pit"; again, I fixed everything wrong with it and drove it for years until it shed a roller lifter at 250,000 miles. She'll be running again by spring. Edited January 24 by Ace-Garageguy
