martinfan5 Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Last one for 2024, finished it too on the 30th of Dec, overall, decent kit, and I feel like it could of turned out better, I was rushing to get it finished, only had a few issues , and those were mainly with the rear hatch/engine cover/window, I just had issues getting them all in the place, the engine cover kept coming lose, switch glues and the there is basically no room between where it sits and the rear windows so the rear windows got messed up a bit. Paint is AlClad Stainless Steel over Tamiya LP Black, it was a lot more shiny, but too much handling dulled it, I don't have any clears I can use over these types of paint, I tried to keep the handling to a minimum and wear cotton gloves. My only gripe with the kit, I wish Aoshima would have included overlay decals for the taillights, I ended up using a sharpie to get that part black, eggcrate I guess it would be called? 16
Matt Bacon Posted January 26 Posted January 26 (edited) Looks lovely. Really nice build and photos, and I love the little door opening vignette at the end. I think I'll have to get one of these stock versions. I shouldn't worry too much about handling the stainless steel dulling it -- you're just reproducing what happens with the real thing! (The "stainless" is rust proof, but far from easy to keep looking pristine, if you happen to own one.) I saw one on the road in front of me last Autumn, and it's surprising how small and low it is... best, M. Edited January 26 by Matt Bacon
lordairgtar Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I like your finish on it. You even got the color variance of the end caps (bumpers) looking different from the body. As they are in the kit, they are a tad too dark. Aoshima should have did the body finish like they did for the BTTF cars.
beeRS Posted January 29 Posted January 29 That looks great. How good to see one built as stock. I think the dulling of the stainless finish just adds to the realism.
spencer1984 Posted January 31 Posted January 31 That turned out great, nice job on it! Aoshima had a PE set with taillight grilles for the BTTF DeLorean, I'm a little surprised they didn't release one for the stock version as well.
