BDSchindler Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I typically do Hot Rod/Custom model cars and looking for rear wheels and tires that are 20" in diameter and 15" wide with corresponding tires that are NOT thin "rubber band" style tires. It can be either Resin Cast or 3D Printed to include the tires (not a fan of the 3D Printed Rubber tires). Here's an example of what I am talking about...
stitchdup Posted January 30 Posted January 30 3d printed would be the easiest option. just find a design of wheel you like thats 2 or 3 piece then it just a case of printing the rim wider. i would look a the tyre files pack from olivizzle since it has matched front and rear tyre sets and they just look better than most available tyres
BDSchindler Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 Thanks but I have no clue what's involved with 3D printing nor do I have the equipment to do so. I mean I get that you buy the files and then either print them yourself (IF you have a decent printer) or find someone to print what you want. Seems that very few people will print on demand these days without charging a ridiculous price. That's why I was looking for someone that already does the width that I want. Texas3Dcustoms goes out to about 10" and I have not really seen anything from Iceman that I'm looking for. I also am not a fan of 3D printed rubber tires as they are a bear to clean up the support blemishes that remain.
SpeedAndViolence Posted Tuesday at 10:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:24 PM I'm looking for the same. I've ordered several 3D printed sets, only to get them and realize they are better suited to go on my grandson's Tonka. I need realistic looking 18" and 20" wheel and tire combo's that you would typically see on a street rod/ pro-touring. Your thoughts?
stitchdup Posted Tuesday at 10:40 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:40 PM I'm in scotland otherwise i could print for you but at the moment its just not worth posting to america. There are loads of options for wheels and i agree many of the hotrod and pro touring tyres are trash. The tyre pack from ollivizzle is very good and has a good variety, and they size up well with the wheels from slowlysmodels which i often use to resize other designers wheels to fit the tyre pack tyres. I think most of the tyres are the way they are to fit standard kit wheel wells as most folk dont want to get into cutting the wells up for wider wheels, and they try to fit both 1/24 and 1/25 scale with one wheel set. That is the benefit of the printer though, you can size things how you want them. If you find designs you like you could always try a wanted post in the trade section looking for someone to print for you thats closer. 1
ncbuckeye67 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago There's a seller on Etsy called "Foggy Cypress" that has some excellent 3D printed wheels & tires. I just bought some Mopar "Rallys" from him, and they look amazing! Get yourself some Tamiya "Rubber Black" to paint the tires with, and you're in business!
