Brutalform Posted February 9 Posted February 9 I was going through some started kits, and I found a few that are close to completion. Mostly foiling, and final assembly. Just finished this one up today. I had built this kit before, but man did this one give me some problems. All when I installed the body on the completed frame. I had the radiator support constantly falling off. Had to add a smaller tach, as the one I had wouldn’t clear the windshield. I added some Pro Tech fittings for lug nuts. They didn’t turn out that great, maybe the next time they’ll look better. I think that was the reason I put it on the shelf, now that I think about it. 19
echo Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Spectacular Build, very nice detailing, excellent all around build, really like the choice of white. Very realistic model. Be proud of this one.
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted February 10 Posted February 10 One of nicest builds of this 421 machine. That chrome trim work is perfect. Hope mine turns out like that. One of my favorite big GM cars.
Andrew McD Posted February 10 Posted February 10 What a nicely done model! The chrome trim with the white paint is exceptionally nice.
Mike 1017 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 I LUV. The interior is spectacular. GM really had it going on with their Tri-Color interiors
bogger44 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Despite the challenges you faced this turned out fantastic! Very impressive foil work, along with that tri-tone interior. One to be proud of for sure.
Nitro330 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Awesome build! Love the color choices with the white exterior and red interior. Great job all around. I did one years ago in the box art blue, but I think the white looks better.
Maurice Henderson Posted February 11 Posted February 11 Sir, this is one outstanding Pontiac build..I love you went with that 70's racers look..The car has that plain Jane look, but your attention to detail made it stand out..Job well done my friend!!!
gtx6970 Posted February 11 Posted February 11 (edited) Nice Very nice I did one a few years back. That tri tone interior can be tiring Edited February 12 by gtx6970
Brutalform Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Thanks for the replies, everyone. It was a fun build, even though it gave me a few problems. Sometimes, a kit you have built before will still give you a challenge.
espo Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Like the clean looking paint and body trim look. You captured the look of the Venture optional tri-colored interior. Like the realistic looking engine and chassis finishes.
Zippi Posted February 13 Posted February 13 That is the cat's meow right there Tom. Just a nice quality build.
1hobby1 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Great build! It came out beautiful. I had the same issue with mine when I mounted the body, along with some frame warp.
Hmann68 Posted February 18 Posted February 18 Wow that interior looks great, along with the foil work too! Beautiful. I hate when something like that firewall on your build gives nothing but grief. That’s when I mix up a little 2 part epoxy. 👍
Rattlecan Dan Posted February 18 Posted February 18 I'm as impressed as the first time I saw the real thing at the strip! You did a great job.
Mopar2 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Wow...Perfect build of your 62 Catalina 421...Everything looks perfect together.
