Ben269 Posted February 12 Posted February 12 I started this a few months ago. I feel like these 87-88 bodies are not quite right on the window opening, so I made the door panel taller and the window narrower. I think it helped. 2
Ben269 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 I filled in the seam where I raised the door line, and sanded it smooth. I didn't take any pictures of it before paint, though. Worked out ok, and now it fits over the sides of the roll cage as well. Powerslide decals. 1
Ben269 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Chassis and cage are not complete yet, but I wanted to show the headrest and seat that I made to replicate the style Bud Moore used through most of the 80's. Need to make the pad for the headrest still, but I am happy with it so far. 3
Dave Van Posted February 18 Posted February 18 (edited) I was working with Monogram when thy did that body. One of the very few that Bob Johnson did not design. The first test shot was horrible and I made a lot of suggestions. The really big items they fix....but not all of them. It looks like you may have fixed the issue at the base of the A pillar....for others, The A pillar flares out as if there is a mirror there. That can be sanded smooth and look much better. Also the rivets around the C pillar window need to be sanded off. those are the easy ones. Great looking build!!! You might be able to see thinned A pillar here....flush with door and flat going up. Sorry to break into your build. Just a FYI Edited February 18 by Dave Van 1 1
Ben269 Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Dave, you are right about the shape of that A pillar. I didn't sand it like you did, but I think its too prominent, and when I do the next one, I would like to address it, maybe straighten and thin out the bottom part so its not so thick at the bottom?
Shark Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Hey Ben, in the first picture, there is an older blue T-bird in the background. Did you replace the front fenders or modify them.
Ben269 Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Yes, the blue one is the 83-86 body, and I am trying to fix the front end. They just don't look right. I'll start a new thread for that one, I think its a subject that others have tried to fix in the past, and would like to get other peoples thoughts on that.
Ben269 Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Does anyone know how to fix these windows? it looks like a tire, or a sprue pressed into them, its a pretty deep groove. Can you fill it with canopy glue or something? I assume they are beyond saving, but maybe someone knows a trick.
Ben269 Posted March 3 Author Posted March 3 Chassis is completed. Should have the rest of it done tomorrow.
