working on one of these new kits.  I only changed the grill to a’69 since i’ve already built a ‘72 service truck.

the cab is not weathered yet just in base paint.

Accurate. Every tow truck I drove was grimy like that.

What did you use for winch cable? I used black .5 mm shop rigging cord on my last one, but leaning towards braided line on the next one.

The well used bed and boom look great, and the cab finish looks fine as is to my eye anyway.

On old wreckers, the cabs and beds were at times not a matching pair.

Old beds were moved to new chassis/cab combos.

I can smell the grease and old truck and gas, you smelled like gasoline when getting out of those old trucks.

And if you had on clean faded jeans.. they were not clean for very long. 

Most trucks I drove smelled of gas, burned oil and stake beer... of course cigarettes if someone smoked.

Sometimes we got lucky and found a fresh-ish Xmas tree freshener in a junk car. Not like it helped a ton...
