Technics Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Model - Lotus Esprit 300 Details added - Carpet, new oem emblems Modifications - Alot of the body and chassis needed removal of material to fit together. As individual assemblies they were nice otherwise. Stance is hard-set with CA glue and hot glue as best as I could manage. 2024 marked my return to 1:24 from a 20 year hiatus, feeling inspired and motivated! Paint Street Blisters Arden Green Mr Surfacer Black Primer Mr Super Clear Pros A tidy paint and clear finish Really happy with result! Best I have done so far Cons Kit Part fitment could be better Finish could still be better in with a polishing process to get a true glass / gloss finish. A advanced build due to number of parts which were unfortunately difficult to assemble together as sub assemblies in the end. Manual is good, part count and detail of the parts is very good. Jim B Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Beautiful Lotus. Very well done. I have always liked the Esprit. 1
SpikeSchumacher Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Masterfully done! An excellent re-entry back into the hobby. 1
OldSkool81 Posted February 15 Posted February 15 Absolutely beautiful!!! I have one of those in my stash that I started years ago; I'll be sure to bookmark your build thread to deal with the fitment issues whenever I get there! Cheers! 1
bogger44 Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Now that has to be about the best looking build of this kit I've ever seen. You wrestled this monster of a kit into submission beautifully. I absolutely love the color choice. I, too, have one in my stash but never had the guts to start it, and might never will! 1
Belugawrx Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Nice work MM.. I too, have been known to slice the occasional spindle arm or wheel mount during final assembly...whatever it takes to get it to sit down... Nice paint and finish,...engine looks the part too. 1
titino Posted February 16 Posted February 16 More than very good, beautiful, I always liked this car. Congratulations MM 1
Technics Posted February 16 Author Posted February 16 (edited) Thank you everyone ! Very nice read ☺️ I surprised myself with the outcome to be honest. Mr hobby clear is a contributor as is lacquer paints via airbrush.. so fine and controlled to use compared to rattle can! I will return on the subject again after a little bit of distance as I have a narrow body turbo version still…. And a 1:10 pecan for a full rc build for those interested ! ☺️ https://www.instagram.com/scale_technics Edited February 16 by Technics 1
DJMar Posted February 16 Posted February 16 You nailed it, looks really fantastic! That color is a winner. I was following the build thread, and I know this wasn't a fun one. You have more patience than I do, that's for sure. 1
Nacho Z Posted February 16 Posted February 16 A beautiful model of a beautiful car! I have always read that this is a tough kit to build. Looks like you conquered it! 1
Lownslow Posted February 21 Posted February 21 nice build, mine turned out just as nice but man what a fight to get it to sit right 1
