carsntrucks4you Posted February 16 Posted February 16 I had started with the excellent Strato Models Kenworth 925 with sleeper. The frame is a a photoetched one that I had soldered together. The quality of the frame is similar to those of the A&N Trucks photoechted frames. You can build the truck either with a Kenworth factory build sleeper or without. I cut out the rear opening to the cab to fit the sleeper to it. The Cummins NH200 is covered by a resin hood with photoetched side panels. To show the engine you have to lift the whole thing from the truck. No way I want a folding hood. I first did one out of thin copper sheet with rolled in hinges. I wasn't happy with the result, therefore I made a new one out of brass with single hinges that were soldered to the panel. 6
cifenet Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Amazing effort to make the hood function! I love your work bench, it looks like you have all the tools to make anything! Excellent work and details!

This is brilliant work Michael. This is exactly where I’m stuck with my Peterbilt 353 project - I tried a modified styrene hood but it didn’t look any good. I’m trying to work up the courage to make one in brass - but I don’t have any metal-working skills. Did you use a buck to shape it? What gauge brass did you use?

I used the kit hood as a master to get the rough shape then I used a rolling tool from RPToolz to get the correct radius. I used 0.2 mm brass sheet. Edited February 17 by carsntrucks4you 1
carsntrucks4you Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 A nightmare was the installation of the rear axles. YOu need at least 4 hands to hoöd everthing in place and glue the tiny parts to the axle and the frame. But in the end it I got it fixed 3

Rockford Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Your metalworking skills are impressive. I do like the torsion bar suspension too, we don't see enough of it.
Randy D Posted February 24 Posted February 24 Hello Michael, Love the metalwork. That hood you created is awesome! Randy
carsntrucks4you Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 Next will be the engine. I'm not sure if it is a Cummins NH200 or NH220. 2
carsntrucks4you Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 And some progress on the interior. A driver is ready for paint. 1
cifenet Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Your leather like texture for those seats are quite nice! Good looking interior!
leafsprings2 Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Great subject matter from Strato, great work and progress!
carsntrucks4you Posted February 28 Author Posted February 28 Old revell/Germany truck druck figure added. I have to remove 2 mm of the cab because it doesn't fit the truck cabin, GRRRRRRR! 3

cifenet Posted March 3 Posted March 3 That driver came out quite nice, good work. I can actually see his facial expression!
freightshaker2 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Michael from start til now this looks it was a lot of effort to build. It pays off man. It looks terrific! I like that old school trucking vibe. very retro
