After father had a heart attack he retired from doin scale builds and I inherited some his ole builds mostly his glue bombs from his teenage yrs. This one I’m “restoring” but I refuse to repaint the body I want that survivor 80s look as ya see in the pics I had about half the car the rest I have found in parts bin or in junk box donors ….. got the chassis done did a 9 inch swap a fresh 440 6 pack with a A833 4 speed some slapper bars and some other stuff keeping this a simple build but here are the pics of what I started with today and what I finished with. Hope have done in next few days thanks y’all hope y’all enjoy this short build. Ps I do need a 70 gtx hood from monogram if anyone has one IMG_0106.jpeg.337393cff1ffbf49126900f46fd658f9.jpegIMG_0107.jpeg.1e0b3d6bdcfeeb03734ed3c219a33645.jpegIMG_0108.jpeg.4b13b996a16aa194fc5690a3f4e9727a.jpegIMG_0109.jpeg.54d03d48f27624a9d902781cbb564262.jpegIMG_0111.jpeg.8677740a513420eeddd87a923f95e7b3.jpegIMG_0122.jpeg.3b271d572f31fffa790cf65d6167f895.jpegIMG_0123.jpeg.a632bf9076a51b1205afb847292203ed.jpegIMG_0124.jpeg.7ad8aee01376109f12e755a739ae6af0.jpegIMG_0125.jpeg.6de2adb17bd2f4cc4afb87b771fc46c1.jpegIMG_0126.jpeg.2b352f7a84422f8430b4cb41b33f9ab1.jpegIMG_0127.jpeg.ca7ad65d768a2f8fd935e1a997532de1.jpegIMG_0119.png.0a15daf9c9ea94d9a1eb26dd4b107ad2.png

Looks good so far. One thing though, not sure how realistic you want it to be, but you can't use slapper bars on a real Mopar. They don't work since the springs are made to spread apart as it launches. Kinda of like a leapfrog where both front and rear jump up together when it launches. It's a common mistake a lot of people do when building Mopar's. Hope that helps.

I’m sure your dad would be proud of this restoration of one of his old builds John.

I agree wit Bill also, if the glass doesn’t clean up I woul replace it.

Not goin super real this is just a shelf piece it was a set leaf’s off a Camaro that was the right size so it was works…. Looks 70s and I only plan to work on this car about 2 days so not spending a ton time to make it crazy accurate thanks tho

If was to be super accurate ide do split monos adjustable shock like Vikings and some caltrac the Mopar asemetrical setup makes them great setups from stock that’s how my 68 dart and 72 dart both are but again thanks for the insight

This is cool. It's always nice to see older kits being saved.

I haven't had any Mongram GTX kits in my stash for a long while, but I will look through my various parts boxes to see if I have an extra hood.

Sadly, my search turned up empty on that hood. You might want to post for it in the Marketplace Wanted! section.
