AMT68 Posted Friday at 04:10 AM Posted Friday at 04:10 AM Second build of the 1/25 scale '76 Caprice from the most recent reissue a few years ago. Painted in Dupli-Color Ford Toreador Red with Rust-Oleum for the clear coat. I clipped the mounting points above the resonators so the exhaust wouldn't sit as low at the rear of the car. I also replaced the rather nondescript exhaust tips with 3/32" styrene rods. 15
hedotwo Posted Friday at 11:49 AM Posted Friday at 11:49 AM Beautiful job Tom! Super paint and foiling.
stavanzer Posted Friday at 04:49 PM Posted Friday at 04:49 PM That is the Best, most realistic build of this kit I have ever seen! Just a great finish.
Bainford Posted Friday at 07:37 PM Posted Friday at 07:37 PM That a fine looking Caprice, Tom. Very nice paint work.
bbowser Posted Friday at 07:43 PM Posted Friday at 07:43 PM Can't go wrong with an Impala / Caprice! Nice work.
happy grumpy Posted Friday at 11:01 PM Posted Friday at 11:01 PM a really good job. You nailed this one and the outside shots really make it shine. Perfect photography.
iwantmodels Posted Saturday at 12:45 AM Posted Saturday at 12:45 AM Absolutely beautiful Chevrolet Caprice. Great work on the chrome and vinyl roof.
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted Saturday at 05:05 PM Posted Saturday at 05:05 PM You did a great job on this Caprice. Made me remember when I built one as a kid. For some reason I loved the hubcaps and hated the headlights. I think I'll pick one of these up again.
espo Posted Saturday at 05:53 PM Posted Saturday at 05:53 PM Beautiful and very realistic looking paint finishes and trim detailing. Chevrolet's color that looked almost dead on to this was called Firethorn.
TransAmMike Posted Saturday at 05:56 PM Posted Saturday at 05:56 PM Great job Tom and very nice realistic presentation! 👍
Can-Con Posted Saturday at 06:12 PM Posted Saturday at 06:12 PM Super job, Tom. Nice to see one with the windshield pillars foiled correctly.😉 I owned a '76 coupe with the Landau trim when I was 19. Great drive-in movie car. 😈
karbuildr Posted Saturday at 10:51 PM Posted Saturday at 10:51 PM (edited) Excellent big Chevy. Nice color and great interior and vinyl roof. Edited Saturday at 10:51 PM by karbuildr

Thanks Mario, I've found it's all about photographing in just the right sunlight. Thanks Gerald. These kits are still out there at reasonable prices. Thanks D Petterway. I personally feel these large cars look best with vinyl tops. 9 hours ago, Perspect Scale Modelworks said: You did a great job on this Caprice. Made me remember when I built one as a kid. I agree the headlights aren't the best and I just used a thin coat of white glue followed by a few coats of Mod Podge. As for the wheel covers I actually prefer the look of the '75 Caprice standard wheel covers. 9 hours ago, Kah puts said: Holy moly that’s a pearl 👍 8 hours ago, espo said: Beautiful and very realistic looking paint finishes and trim detailing. I agree with you on the color and often times Firethorn was paired with a Buckskin interior which I could've used on this one. Thanks Mike. I continue to make an effort to improve my photography. 8 hours ago, Can-Con said: Super job, Tom. I have the one AMT kit where the box art model has the A-pillar trim detailed incorrectly. 4 hours ago, karbuildr said: Excellent big Chevy. Nice color and great interior and vinyl roof. fun9c1 Posted Sunday at 10:41 PM Posted Sunday at 10:41 PM That's incredible work. I wish I could figure out how to get my paint jobs to come out like that! I also love the white interior. I would pick that over the tan. Also one of the first things that jumped out to me as well as the amazing detail was how incredibly reflective the hub caps are! Did you have them rechromed, or is that how they came? Not sure how many variations of this there were, but I have the Round 2 Auto World one with the trailer. Open box but still all sealed up inside, complete and not started.
