TopherMcGinnis Posted Monday at 05:28 PM Posted Monday at 05:28 PM I bought some items from an automotive electric shop and this tool was in the lot. I have zero point zero idea what it's used for.

JollySipper Posted Tuesday at 03:09 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:09 PM Looks kinda like something you would use to pull a cable or wire tight..........
Ace-Garageguy Posted Tuesday at 04:36 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:36 PM (edited) Looks to me like a bench-mounted press or puller of some type, and has interchangeable mandrels. Since it was acquired from an "automotive electric shop", the most likely application for a small bench-mounted press or puller would be for generator or alternator bearings, or alternator diodes...though I've never seen one like this before. EDIT: some alternators have diodes that have to be pressed into their carriers to avoid damage. EDIT 2: This is the kind of diode press I'm familiar with, but there are other designs, and some have interchangeable mandrels or press heads. Edited Tuesday at 07:11 PM by Ace-Garageguy
