bogger44 Posted Monday at 10:05 PM Posted Monday at 10:05 PM (edited) Finally, my first completion of 2025. This one was started by my Dad back in the late 1980's, I believe, and he never got around to finishing it. It's a Johan '70 442 converted to a Rallye 350, albeit not completely accurate or stock. Overall I'd say it was 75-80% of the way finished. Sharing a pic of what I started with. It had a few missing/broken parts that I sourced from another Johan 442. Decals are most likely Fred Cady's, which have yellowed some over time. He did scratch build the hood scoops, and front & rear spoilers. I have no idea what brand paint the yellow is. As you can see, it doesn't have the right grille, I believe the kit one was missing and he swapped in a 71 or 72 unit. Basically, I finished up the engine and underhood, added some wiring as well. A quick and simple painting of chassis bits, and some touch ups in the interior, and I called those good. The faces of the side mirrors were one of the parts missing, so I made some out of plastic stock. This was a fun and rewarding little side project while being in the middle of my current main project. Glad I got around to finishing it up, and love it still has a bit of that "survivor" look to it. Thanks for looking and any comments/questions. Edited Monday at 10:06 PM by bogger44 10
Dragonhawk1066 Posted Monday at 10:18 PM Posted Monday at 10:18 PM Very nice! I always loved the look of the Rallye 350's!
happy grumpy Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM Posted yesterday at 12:46 AM Beautiful olds, looks super nice in that bright yellow especially outdoors, makes it pop.
BIGTRUCK Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM Posted yesterday at 01:59 AM This is probably the nicest 442 I've seen. Bumpers look awesome.
AMT68 Posted yesterday at 04:37 AM Posted yesterday at 04:37 AM Great looking Oldsmobile. I'd remembered these had painted bumpers but I'd forgotten they had the fender striping since I really haven't seen many builds of the Rallye 350.
karbuildr Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Outstanding save and renewal. I'm another fan of these cars. You did a really nice job bringing this beauty back to life. 👍
bogger44 Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago Thanks a bunch guys. Glad I finally got this one put together, and I love these cars too. Oldsmobile made some great rides back in the day.
DJMar Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Oh yeah, I'm loving this. Not only did you resurrect an old build, but it's something we rarely see as a subject. It's cool that your dad scratchbuilt those parts. I think you captured the look of the real thing! Edited 9 hours ago by DJMar
Brutalform Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Very nice, to say the least. The overall details you put into this build really paid off. Engine and chassis details are spot on. I especially like how nicely detailed the wheels are.
