Hey guys , this went a little faster than I expected as it was to be a ‘buddy’ build along  side my Payhauler build. Well it was … kinda …. LOTS of changes and LOTS of aftermarket. I just wanted something a little different than the usual box stock build. First off I must thank Brian for his continued encouragement and his kind thoughts. The other fellow that needs a HUGE thank you is Bren …. For his massive generosity for printing and sending me some beautiful accurate 30-30 brake chambers and some fittings for air, oil , fuel etc. THANKS Bren!

There is a long list of changes and added A/M but I won’t bore you with all the sordid details unless anyone is really interested. This was a fun project and the engine change was just part of the vision. I am quite pleased with the final result, as I was shooting for a mid ‘90’s heavy hauler that would have possibly been seen on our B.C. Highways, maybe in Alberta or in the Yukon but just before tri- drives became the norm. There is a lot of 3d printed parts and most of them are from 3dConcepts here in Canada.

Oh my.  You have put your soul into it!

Looks amazingly good now that you have shown the pics of whole truck.

The massive front tires do add its mean business look of the truck as well!

Some quality stuff going on, great job accomplishing this truck to be built, Jeff!

Fine looking addition to your 'shelf' fleet!  Subtle dust weathering is just enough and adds lots of character to the truck.  Great job, Jeff!

Thanks Brian. After talking with you and looking again at the rack, I decided to ‘tone it down’ a touch and I think that made a difference for sure. Thanks for following along and your never ending encouragement and design skills, a true friend indeed

Always nice to see a well built Western Star on here as they're generally underrepresented.  Sounds like you've got the trifecta of model building working for you: 1) Talent/ability 2) Encouragement from others 3) Localized 3D-printed specialty items that help set your model apart.

Would you mind telling us which exact paint you used for the truck body (ex: Model Master #1619)?   Looks like a gorgeous shade.

Thanks Monte, I really appreciate your thoughts and comments. Along with the trifecta as you mention also I can add to that the thousands of miles and the hundreds of hours I sat in these trucks, they were really nice to drive and very comfortable.

The color was inspired by Gary’s build of his resto-rod Autocar. I am very partial to this kind of red … the paint I used on this build is Model Master Enamel Stop Light Red Metallic the stuff in the larger bottle. I think it is still available in the little 1/4 oz bottles and I ‘think’ the number is 1105. And yes it is a really nice color and laid down beautifully thinned with lacquer thinner. Hope that is of some help to you. Thanks again. Cheers

A great build. Looks like a serious heavy hauler that gets the job done, no messing around. Nice use of aftermarket parts. 3d concepts are sure making some nice stuff.

Super sharp build, you successfully transformed a highway hauler into an all purpose go anywhere heavy hauler. Really like the super detailed add on special equipment choices that looks spot on for a vehicle of that type for that era. The wide front aluminums and standard rear painted steelies put the "classic" into the Western Star Classic!
