Greasefinger Posted March 23 Posted March 23 (edited) The 1957 saw the third generation of Cadillac Eldorado. Eldorado Brougham was hand-built four-door ultra luxury vehicle costing twice the price of a conventional 1957 Eldorado. It featured the first quad headlights (illegal in the US at the time of release) and a pillarless stainless steel hardtop. I built this 1:25 model from Atlantis a couple of years ago. The kit is a curbside quite low part-count kit, originally from the fifties (Revell) accordig to Scalemates. The kit showed it´s age, for example the upper and lower parts of the body were separate. With this kit I wanted to practice getting a candy red finish which was achieved by airbrushing Tamiya clear red over silver. The chrome trim on the sides is Alclad and the window trim Bare Metal Foil. As always, the photos show a lot of places that could´ve been done better, but considering the challenges from the age of the kit it turned out ok. Edited March 23 by Greasefinger 21
espo Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Great work with the body. The assembly issues with fit and finish on this kit has kept me from starting the one I have. Great paint finishes and color. 1
Hard_2_Handle_454 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 That came out beautiful. My build did not. It was one of the worst kits I ever had the displeasure of building. 1
karbuildr Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Outstanding candy red finish. Very well done build for a difficult kit. 1
Stef Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Beautiful work, Kari! Your paint looks miles deep, and your build is so clean, it would look right at home next to an IMEX 58 or Monogram 59! I bought one of these in the 90s, didn't appreciate it's vintage origins, and gave it away. Now that I see how good it can be, I want to get another, thanks! 1
Kah puts Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Oh man! You totally nailed this fiddley hard to make look good, frustrating old kit, but maybe that’s the glue talking 👍 1
Mike 1017 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 (edited) I LUV it I would give my left --- to own a 1:1 Edited March 24 by Mike 1017 wrong word 1
happy grumpy Posted March 24 Posted March 24 This is the best build of that model I've seen so far. 1
Koellefornia Kid Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Nice work on a difficult kit! Color and finish looks great! 1

Thanks, I do have the Monogram 59 Eldrado Biarriz built (pink, of course..). Maybe I should search for the -58 too.
