Monty Posted March 25 Posted March 25 (edited) I'm way behind most of you guys when it comes to drag racing details, but at some point in the near future I'll be starting an early '70s funny car. As regards painting, I'm curious how the underside of the car body should look. Were these typically fiberglass bodies? If so, should I try and replicate raw fiberglass, or were they primed and painted as well? Edited March 25 by Monty
Tim W. SoCal Posted March 25 Posted March 25 They were typically fiberglass bodies and whether the inside was painted or just raw fiberglass depended on the weight of the finished car and the car owner's personal taste. 1
Dave G. Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Ya, I dragged raced in early mid 70's ( not funny cars) and saw lots of bodies up. As Tim said, some were just color coated, some raw. No finish work done though. Just color in the raw glass or not. Some of the alcohol guys worked on a lower budget than sponsored fuel cars too. To me funny car died after the 70's, !! It was a magnificent time in funny car history, to me. 1
