Raised White letters on tires

I sand the letters lightly then use the gel pen lightly following the letters from away from me to toward me

Just lightly.

Any white on the tire can be taken off with a tooth pick.

Good point mentioning sanding lightly before painting.  Makes a big difference on how well the paint lays and stays.
