JollySipper Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Hey, guys! I have two projects ready for paint, but I'm having trouble finding the exact colors I need for them. It's the names that manufacturers use for their colors that's the problem..... Looking at the Duplicolor sprays, which is what I'm hoping to get help with, there's only 'chrome yellow'. I would like a lighter pale yellow....... What would Duplicolor call a pale yellow? Also, I need a champagne color for my Starliner. What would that be called in DC language? Any help with this is appreciated greatly! 1
Belugawrx Posted March 30 Posted March 30 Light Drift Sand Metallic (CBGM0482) is very close to champagne, but they do have some champagne pearls The only other yellow they show is...Yellow (BTY1517) Here have this.... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EsIQ5YN87r7TrJv89FpNq8lAiqihIfcapOUJ2IP1gQ8/edit#gid=0
JollySipper Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Thanks, Bruce man! I was looking on the 'bay of E for the color codes for these so I could have my local O'Reillys order them for me........ 1
StevenGuthmiller Posted March 31 Posted March 31 The pale yellow could be a problem just because it hasn’t really been a predominant color for cars for many years. I bought a can of pale yellow Duplicolor probably 35 years ago when they were still selling them in the taller, skinnier cans, and used it on a couple of projects, but I don’t think I’ve seen it since. 69NovaYenko Posted April 1 Posted April 1 (edited) There`s a local mom-pop auto parts store in my neck of the woods who will mix small batches of automotive paint for touch up purposes. They have all the factory paint codes & will mix any color from the early 50ties to present day. You can order from a pint to a gallon of the custom mix. The paint is reasonably priced. And, for a few bucks more they will even put it in a 12 or 16 ounce aerosol can. Check with you local "INDEPENDENT" auto parts stores if you can find one in your area. Just a thought....
