ewoody Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Try Grandview Hobbies, old school hobby shop, friendly and knowledgeable, pretty good inventory of kits and supplies. Well worth a visit.
Sledsel Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Robbies Hobbies... Not a lot of kits, but usually has old ones and even built ups at very reasonable prices.

Well worth a visit. Yeah dude, totally.. I came here to say this too.. Grandview Hobbies has been my go-to hobby shop ever since I first started building as a kid in the early 90s.. I live a little over 2 hours West of there these days, but still make the drive over and stop in a few times a year.. Fella ALWAYS has an excellent inventory, cool built-ups on display - many of which are available for sale, and even a secret stash of vintage kits he dips into and makes available from time to time.. Cool dude, knowledgeable, cool place, probably the last of the old school hobby shops in Cbus, and well worth the trip to visit..
Dave Van Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Where is Grandview???? I have family in Columbus and visit often over the last 30 years. I recall the days where it took me all day to hit all the hobby shops. There was a good one off High in a big shopping center......even a shop off Roberts that had a big slot car track. Add to it the 3 model railroad shops....it was great in the pre internet days. Anyone go to the Blue Caboose?? It was a collector toy store, old and rare, but I found some kits there too. Today I hit Robbies and two trains stores when I visit. thx
ewoody Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Grandview hobbies is about a mile and a half from OSU campus. The store with the slot track was Tom Thumb hobbies, I believe they have closed recently. The other shop was at Graceland mall, I am not sure if they are still open, can't remember the name.
