John M. Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Would you remember an old TV series that didn't last and long forgotten?. I remember such a show from 1974 that was a crime drama on ABC. It was called "Chopper One" It only lasted 13 episodes but it has a real cool opening. It proceeded "Blue Thunder" and "Airwolf by a decade. 2
Old Buckaroo Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I liked Salvage 1 , that was a cool show. I almost grew up to be a space nerd till my exposure to a big block Chevy with open headers ! 😎 1
Goose1957 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Maximum Bob. Ran from August to September of 1998 on ABC. Only 7 episodes. Starring Beau Bridges as an eccentric judge. It was hilarious and I can't imagine why it didn't survive. Always something exploding in the background. https://youtu.be/u6Vg_e0RiR8?si=GNnaWAqKRMNMD-pm Jeff 1
Can-Con Posted April 1 Posted April 1 (edited) I remember Salvage 1 and Maximum Bob. Pretty good shows. A couple I remember well that didn't last too long were "Franklin & Bash" A "dramedy" law show. Very funny and clever. Loved the casting of a very anti drug judge they went us against on one episode. Another that we're started watching on You Tube last week was "Special Unit 2" KInda mash up of X-files and Ghostbusters but it only lasted about 17 or 19 episodes. Edited April 1 by Can-Con
JollySipper Posted April 2 Posted April 2 The show 'NewsRadio' is kinda not that well known, even though it ran for four years....... It had The Best cast of any show ever! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NewsRadio Phil Hartman was one of my favorite actors........ When he passed, they replaced his character with John Lovitz, another of my favorites. 2
Chuckyg1 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Fernwood Tonight with Martin Mull. He played a talk show host. Some pretty funny sfuff. It ran a couple of seasons, but when I mention it to folks, No one seems to remember it. 6
Bills72sj Posted April 2 Posted April 2 One of my favorites was Firefly. I actually bought the DVD set. 1
Mike C Posted April 2 Posted April 2 (edited) Another show I liked from around 2002 - 2003 or so was on Fox called "John Doe" played by Dominic Purcell. He was a man that woke naked up on an island with no memory about who he was but he seemed to know everything else about the world. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Doe_(TV_series) Another show I remember is from 1977. s short lived sci-fi comedy. It was called Quark https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quark_(TV_series) I liked Salvage One too, I used to watch it. Edited April 10 by Mike C
bobss396 Posted April 2 Posted April 2 I watched almost zero TV between 1973 and 1983. This was the heyday of inane sitcoms from what little I did see, I did not miss much.
iamsuperdan Posted April 2 Posted April 2 In The Flesh - a BBC show with a very different take on zombies. Should have lasted more than 2 seasons, and at the very least, should have been given a proper ending. Santa Clarita Diet - same as above. Two and a half seasons, never got the ending it deserved.
Falcon Ranchero Posted April 2 Posted April 2 The Three's Company spin offs, The Ropers and Three's A Crowd. Watched all both spin offs full series; pretty funny just like Three's Co. Also there was a Happy Days cartoon I was watching when I was younger, and the Dukes of Hazzard cartoon, Laverne and Shirley cartoon, never seen the whole series. There was a Mork and Mindy cartoon and a Brady Bunch cartoon too. A little old to be watching those shows now, but I actually have the Happy Days cartoon full seasons on DVD and would rather my future kids watch that then some of the new kids shows. I grew up watching the same cartoons my parents grew up with because of a channel called Teletoon Retro. Favourite tv channel. Then they replaced it with another channnel many years ago and there were no more old cartoons on tv since then. I remember my dad telling me in circa 1975 he'd wake up at 6:00am on a Saturday and turn the tv dial to watch Rocky and Bullwinkle.

The Ropers are on Tubi for free one that other series that John Ritter was in. There are lots of movies an series free to watch on Tubi…
bobss396 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 In the 1960s there were a lot of short rubs of shows, or just a few seasons at most. Memorable were: Run Buddy Run, The Invaders, Dickenson and Fenster (with Marty Ingalls and John Astin).
ChrisBcritter Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Add to that the two superhero spoofs: Captain Nice and Mr. Terrific.
espo Posted April 5 Posted April 5 We like comedies and adventure movies. We recently dropped the AT&T cable because of all the reruns and no new content. Went with Amazon Prime and a small receiver we got at Walmart. Now we're watching all the old "Coupling" and "Waiting for God" from the BBC along with "Reacher" and a few others for a fraction of the cost of AT&T.
JollySipper Posted April 5 Posted April 5 There is this very short-lived cartoon that Disney Channel used to air at like 2 AM, called Dave The Barbarian............ He was a barbarian, of course, but he would rather bake cookies and make puppets and such! Was a pretty funny show once you learned the characters........... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_the_Barbarian
TarheelRick Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I enjoyed the series called "Call to Glory" starring Craig T. Nelson as a no-nonsense USAF Colonel flying during the heart of the Cold War, especially the Cuban Missile Crisis era. Didn't last long, only one season. Guess people of the mid 80's didn't care for a military hero.

I remember Mr. Terrific, but who remembers It's About Time? Dumb redo of Gilligan's Island with astronauts that went back in time. Even used the "lagoon" from G.I. 3
Tim W. SoCal Posted April 6 Posted April 6 Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman was an American satirical soap opera that was broadcast on weeknights from January 1976 to July 1977. 1

In school we'd be singing "It's about time - it's about space - it's about time to slap you in the face!" 1
Horrorshow Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Dusty’s Trail, starred Bob Denver and Six others in a complete rip off of Gilligans Island, set in the 1800’s , they were separated from a wagon train, had a leader, millionaire couple, the whole Gilligan theme, ran one season in syndication, early 70’s.
