bogger44 Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Started off as Dom's GTX, but had to build it my way. I felt like I was never going to complete this one as I started it back in November. I dropped in a Iceman Collections Hellcat engine for some serious motivation. Fitting it into the car took some work, with all the pulleys on this thing, there was no way the k-frame was going to work. So, I scratched in a coilover type suspension and new engine cradle. In the process, ended up having to flip the oil pan around with the sump in back for clearance. Other mods underneath are subframe connectors, front and rear torque boxes, aluminum tube drive shaft, and parts box exhaust and rear shocks. Lastly, the front chin spoiler was also scratched. Under the hood resides a larger radiator with electric fans. While I don't mind the wheels/tires it comes with, I ditched those and slapped on some classic 5 spokes from Jay's Resin. Paint is Model Master Flame Red. I wish my camera would pick up the color better, it really is more of a pure bright red than what this shows. Interior is Tamiya White. Lastly, some Keith Marks decals rounded out the build. Unfortunately had a couple snafu's during final assembly and buggered up the paint in a couple spots, but cleaned them up best I could and trucked on. Eagle eyes might spot them. Also, the PE "supercharged" on the right side coil pack cover broke on me. Overall really happy with the build and was a fun (sometimes frustrating) challenge getting it all dialed in. Next build is going to be a straight forward easy one though! Thanks for looking and any comments/questions. 29
johnyrotten Posted April 3 Posted April 3 Very clean looking gtx. That red with the white interior stands out. Awesome looking build.
happy grumpy Posted April 4 Posted April 4 being a big fan of this body style and having own a 72 satellite seabring, you made my day, what a beauty. Beautiful photos to top it off.
Steve H Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Wow! Another very nice build Tony. Absolutely stunning. It looks like it’s doing 100mph just sitting there. Clean build, great photography, and I really like the wheel/ tire combo, well played.
NOBLNG Posted April 4 Posted April 4 Sweet looking GTX Tony! I’ve never been a fan of this year, but I think you just converted me.😎
Bainford Posted April 4 Posted April 4 That is one freaking cool GTX. Like, off-the-charts cool. I love it. Very nice looking paint, too.
Ken Car-Fanatic Posted April 4 Posted April 4 I have to admit, I like the Fast & Furious version, but I really like your version better. That looks awesome! The color & those wheels with the full width spoiler on the front, with the orange Hellcat engine looks amazing. Well done!
DJMar Posted April 4 Posted April 4 She's a beauty. The color combo is really striking. I'm not a fan of modern rollers on older musclecars, but the wheel & tire combo looks great, and the stance is right on!
TarheelRick Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Beautiful, clean build. Very well put together, especially with the suspension changes.
Ragtop Man Posted April 5 Posted April 5 I got nothing. That is the best build of this kit I have EVER seen, and now it is on my list to pick up. Color, stance, the trim and details knock me out. That is a complete concept start to finish. FWIW, IMHO we are too tough on ourselves about the little nits we miss and miss the stuff we did well.
espo Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Beautiful paint finish and the contrasting interior color looks great with the body color. Like the wheels & tires showing off the disc brakes. Perfect stance.
