How about a sewing kit?

I have one of these kits that's missing some parts. Now that I've bought some of the missing parts in eBay, decals from Slixx and also one glue bomb from a friend that will give me the rest of the parts needed to build Ohio George's Willys, it's natural that they will reissue the kit.:P

So, glad to see it's reissued, but personally don't need it for now...

Help me understand the tin box thing... are those really that collectable where they add value to the contents?

Not for me, but Round2 keeps issuing them so they must be selling well.

I'll probably pick one of these up if nothing else for the nostalgia factor. This is one of the first kits my Dad helped me put together back in the day.

Imagine the box content would yield a model looking remotely similar to the box art 😂

Why wouldn't it? At the last reissue, Round 2 put the correct decals, tires and missing parts back in.

I'm puzzled by the "remotely similar" comment too...this is one of the more authentic Gasser kits.  Might be the best, top five for sure.

The only thing holding it back over the years has been tires.  First-run 1967 kits had two-piece plastic tires and slicks.  Apparently buyers were okay with plastic tires in the $1.70 altered wheelbase funny car kits, but weren't so crazy about them in a $2.00 kit.

AMT deleted the plastic tires and threw in vinyl ones.  The hollow M&H/Goodyear (on opposite sidewalls) were so-so, but the Trophy Series tires used for the front just didn't cut it.

Would I be correct in assuming that the contents will be the same as those in this boxing? I have a couple of this version as well as an original.amt770_2.jpg.d715a1eac2fba0b31fb2459a214edead.jpg

It should be identical, Bill.

Thanks Ken. The artwork is good. But the artwork combined with a tin box is not enough to entice me into buying another.

Wonder if this will get a ‘regular’ box release too?

I don’t NEED the tin box, but I’d pick up the kit - love this era of drag car.

How is this kit?  Anyone built one?

Agree 100% - the AMT kit lines up very well with contemporary pix in HRM and others.

Have heard voices here and on Spotlight rather slagging the AMT '40, but a very clean (fagile!!!) built turned up in a box of builts, with the orignal instructions and it sure looks good to me. Much more likely to get finished than the more detailed but more fiddly Revell '40.

I built this one back around 2004 - from an earlier reissue when it didn't have all the correct parts, so I sourced a few things here and there. The decals are from Fred Cady; rear wheels and tires are from the Revell '41 Willys - so I can't speak as to what's in the current kit. Like it's said elsewhere in this thread, apparently the original parts have been put back in since, which is good news. It's a great kit as far as I'm concerned.
