Would like to share a rare moment in modeling.  A good friend passed on a 60 Phoenix 2dr promo from a coworker that acquired it and others from his father's estate.

The coworker of my friend wasn't sure of what to do, either throw away the the collection ( I guess maybe the models and style/taste were from a different  time or generation) or pass them on to someone else.  Fortunately the coworker knew of my friend's modeling hobby, offered to which my friend said he would accept it all.

Not really sure in total how many he recieved from his coworker but it was an assortment of mid 50's to early 60's.  Buick,  Pontiac, Chevrolet,  Dodge and etc. mainly Promos'.

Some pristine, some showing slight age & wear and but all showing a moment in time.

In my small group of model buddies, I'm the Mopar. We got the Chevrolet, the Ford and we all enjoy some good nature ribbing and it is always a challenge to one up the other.  My friend was very generous in gifting what he received from his young coworker and I, along with rest of our circle of modeling cohorts,  truly appreciate and Thank him for his sharing.

Back to the 1st paragraph when I recieved the 60 Phoenix 2dr. Definitely a promo that was molded in acetate plastic which has a tendency to warp over time.  Unfortunately the drivers side and front have this effect and Unfortunately not much can be done in altering the condition,  based on my research.  No plans for restoration.

The 4dr Phoenix is a Johan model. All standard features are the same with the exception of the 4dr has a somewhat detail chassis and no trim molding on the top of the front fender behind the headlights as to the 2dr having a  basic standard "plate" chassis and top fender trim.  That one I plan to restore...

As I said...a rare moment that to me that was worth sharing in a hobby we all enjoy.   Chuck

Glad some fellow modelers could save these from the landfill. Shame that the materials used at the time are not as durable as what we enjoy today.

Those are really cool. Also glad they were saved. I love those '60 Dodges. Dad had a black Phoenix 2 door hardtop when I was a kid. I really liked the styling. 💯😎

One of the first cars I ever rode in was a red 1960 Dart Phoenix 2 door. I was a baby. The 4 door Phoenix was created from a 2 door by some modeler in the past. Johan never made a 4 door Phoenix and Chrysler never made the Dart or Fury with this roof line in a 4 door.

I stand corrected.

After reading THarrison351 post I further inspected the model. Though heavily brush painted I did manage to see some tell-tale signs that the rear door were in fact scribed in.

I recieved the Phoenix the day before the post. The top of the roof at the rear window I thought had been broken and a repair of a smaller custom window was made with an excessive amount of putty used, roughly sanded over and heavily painted over as with the rest of the model.

Once home with the kit I discovered that the putty came off being puttied over the rear window and no damage to the roof except for the top rear window trim being degraded. I'm sure the owner at the time had a vision of what he wanted to achieve and did so based on his experience in modeling.

Slightly embaressed by my assumption.  I do not claim to be a complete automotive authority but I do appreciate Mr. Harrison's comments and the sales brochure with the various automotive styles available for the Dart Phoenix.

I did mentioned that I had plans to restore the model and will do so as a 2dr,  thus hopefully saving a small piece of modeling from being thrown away.
