FujimiLover Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) like the real life cannon ball? i believe this is a tribute build to those actors that we have lost. Exactly. This is for Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Junior, recently Dom Delouise, and now Farrah Fawcette. While Farrah wasn't in the second movie, all the other's were. So it's ONLY for the two movies. Last night one of the cabel tv channels was having a Charlie's Angel's marathon dedicated to Farrah. It amazes me how much more beautiful women were back then compared to many of the actress's today. I think today, my favorite two are Jennifer Aniston, just because she's so pretty, and Jennifer Love Hewett. Still, none of theme can match the beauty that Farrah, Jaclyn Smith, or the third Angel had back in the 80's. That and of coarse Barbera Eden back in her I Dream of Jeanie day's! So yes, the build-off is only for the two movies, not for the real life Cannonball race. Edited June 30, 2009 by FujimiLover

So yes, the build-off is only for the two movies, not for the real life Cannonball race. I think it's the fact that they did not have a lot of plastic surgeons and techniques back then like they do now. Some of the 50 and 60 year olds from back then look like they are 30 or 40 compared to some these days with all there plastic features. so am i the only one thats entered? Nope. I've got another Lambo kit coming and I'm going to do that white one. I think it's on the very top of that page in that link I posted that shows all the cars from both movies. I don't know who drove it, but I'm building a red one now, so I need a white one and that lets me join in here.
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) In the second Cannonball Run, the beginning of the movie shows a white Lamborghini Countach being driven by the two "chicks". One was I think Catherine Bache, sorry if I've misspelled her name wrong, but the lady from the Dukes Of Hazzard Show. I don't know who played the blond one. In the second movie at least, they were refereed to as Jill and Marcy and I remember it specifically from when they were all preparing for the race and Vincent, "Dom Delouise" was talking to J.J, he looked at the two ladies and said, "Hi Jill, hi Marcy, cute car!" Back to the start of the movie, the white Lamborghini had drove into a lot where somebody had a big power-hose gun and sprayed their car. As they spun the car around, you can see the white paint being washed off and exposing the red car. If you look really closely during the beginning of this chase seen, and you see the white Lamborghini, you can barely see the red at the lower portion of the skirts. Also, when the passenger steps out to change the speed limit sign from the boring slow 55 to the more exciting 155 mph limit, the door jams were red. I believe this car was painted with water-based paint that could easily be washed off in order to quickly change colors and evade the police. As I said, any of you builders can build any car you want from these two movies, but I think no more than 2-3 per car. It would be boring if 5-10 people built the same exact kit. We need variety and we should get most of the character cars if possible. I just don't mind 2 no more than 3 people doing the same one as it will be interesting to see different skill levels, techniques, et'c, building the same car. You made a good point about plastic people. What's wrong with natural beauty? It was certainly popular back then as far as I'm concerned. I even remember a lot of guest-stars on Knight Rider that I'd considered beautiful, even the main characters such as Patricia Macpherson and can't remember who played the hot red-head April in the 2nd season, but man were they pretty! Plasic surgery is dumb unless you have health issues or an accident where you really need it. I much prefer natural beauty over anything else. Edited July 1, 2009 by FujimiLover
Joe Handley Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 What about building the actual Cannonball cars vs the movie cars? Would this be permitted in the build-off as well? Well...the ambulance would work, it wasn't only a hero truck but it also was run in the last real Cannonball!
Corvette.Jeff Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Alright so dwc43 is building the white/red lambo from the second movie, and i am building the black one from the first movie. anyone else building anything? i may be able to put in a c4 corvette, but we'll see.
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Jamie Blake and Thunderbam drove a Corvette in the second movie, but I'm not sure what the model was. I don't think it was a C4, but I don't know my American cars that well. I plan on doing the Mitsubishi Starion that the Japanese team drove in the second one if/when I can find the right kit.
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 I would like to build the black one also, from my 1:12 scale Testors kit. However, even given a year to do the build, it would take me a year to clear all the other projects from the workbench. & I'd need to clear the bench first, because I'd need the room exclusively for that kit! a 1/12 scale Cannonball Run Countach would be freaking sweet! As I stated with the other ones, can you find 1/12 scale ladies? I'm just not sure what the color was on the interior as they really never showed it. I'm thinking it was either tan, or black.

Not meaning to change the subject, but Mike, is that 6000 SUX car from Judge Dread ? If not which movie. I know I've seen it somewhere before.

dwc43 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I think that 6000 was from RoboCop. You may be right. I just watched all three of those a couple months ago. Got all 3 for $5 at WallyWorld.
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Frank Welker ... Special Vocal Effects (voice) Now where have I heard that name before? Hmmmmmmm RoboCop car, yep I do know my movies! Thank you for that big list of character's and actors! It's funny how they give first names to some characters when the names aren't even mentioned in the movies. I never heard Fenderbaum, refered to as Morris before. I only heard the last name in both movies. Wait a minute, I just noticed something. The Dr. wasn't mentioned in any of those lists! You know, that big scary looking Dr.? He was the Dr. in J.J's ambulance in the first movie, and then he was the Dr. for the Shiek in the second movie. Edited July 1, 2009 by FujimiLover

dwc43 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 the 6000 SUX is from Robocop. I guess i need to find some E-Cookies now... Thanks. I knew I saw that somewhere recently.
dwc43 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I thought this was a good one. NASCAR broadcaster as a cop ... lol Ken Squier ... California Patrolman #3
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Gotta love my new computer with Wikipedia. Just did a search for Cannonball Run and came up with this. Great information here and includes posted race-times of the actual events. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cannonball_Ba...ial_Trophy_Dash I did not realize that Jamie Farr, "The Sheik" was in fact Klinger from M.A.S.H.! Wow, I would've never noticed without reading Wikipedia, but sure enough! Edited July 1, 2009 by FujimiLover
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Bottom of the first list. Hal Needham ... Ambulance EMT (uncredited) Really? That was the director of the movie? Never would've figured................ Um, maybe not? Jack Elam ... Doctor Nikolas Van Helsing That was the character I was refering too. Edited July 1, 2009 by FujimiLover
dwc43 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Really? That was the director of the movie? Never would've figured................ Um, maybe not? Jack Elam ... Doctor Nikolas Van Helsing That was the character I was refering too. Glad we cleared that up. And I'm sure it's not the first time a director was in a movie, other than some of the obvious stars like Clint Eastwood. He directed almost all of his movies. The pizza delivery guy in the first F and F was the director of that movie too.
FujimiLover Posted July 1, 2009 Author Posted July 1, 2009 Let's not forget Mike Meyers written, directed, and played more than one character in the Austin Powers trilogy! Okay, back to Cannonball Run!
dwc43 Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Well, I'm working on my red 5000 but it will be a few more days before the kit for my white one shows up.
Corvette.Jeff Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 yes fuji, the red corvette that sammy and dean martin drove in the second movie was a early c4 corvette, it was inbetween a 84' and a 86' i know this because of the tail lights, they were round and not rectangular, it was most likely a 84' since the movhe was made around then,
FujimiLover Posted July 7, 2009 Author Posted July 7, 2009 Well, I'm working on my red 5000 but it will be a few more days before the kit for my white one shows up. Nice start there, thank you for posting! If you want to be a real stickler for details. Remember that on the white Lamborghini, it faded to red just where the skirts rolled downward from the water-based paint. Also, if your model has opening doors, there was red inside the door jam's as well. This was clearly seen in the movie when they pulled up against the speed limit sign and the lady got out to change it. Thank you for posting your start! Can you please provide a picture of the model's box? Thank you!
