beefheart22 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) I'm sure there have been 100 Cole Trickle cars from Days of Thunder posted, but I wanted to be the 101st! Please don't think of this as a NASCAR, but more of a tribute to a movie car that raced away with our hearts. A tribute to a vertically challenged actor who, at one point in time, could be taken seriously and didn't jump on couches. A tribute to a very young (and very attractive) Nicole Kidman who was the eye Candy for those who weren't gawking over the state-of-the-art Hendrick Luminas... Awe heck, I just wanted to build the Mello Yello car 'cause it's cool! Everybody needs to get this build out of there system at one point! TS Gloss Black, TS Light Green trim, three step Tamiya polishing compounds, kit decals, except the panel contingencies which were nicked from a Power Slide sheet... and when I was trying to remove the decal residue around the contingencies, I tore the edges on a few... Ah well. We'll say Wheeler met Cole at the wall... Edited June 16, 2009 by beefheart22
beefheart22 Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) cool project, i have a few of those Days of Thunder cars i want to do as well! no fan of Tom since he went nuts over Katy, but i can't blame him. man what a way to make a fool of yourself though. not a real big fan of Nicole Kidman, except that one movie where she proved that she's a true redhead Dave --> "true redhead" Thanks Dave! beefheart22 Posted June 26, 2009 Author Posted June 26, 2009 "Hit the pace car!" "What for?" "Because you've hit every other !@%$%#@* thing out there!" My personal favorite: "We end up looking like a monkey &%^@$%* a football out there!" Chassis has more detail (suspension and exhaust dumps remain), Engine, rims. Left the plating on the rims, but sprayed them with a wet coat of TS Flat Clear. Got the effect I was looking for quite well. As for the engine, I wanted to experiment on the headers in anticipation for some future NASCAR builds. Layered some metallic brown, gun metal and "titanium" gold. Some dry-brushed metallic blue to simulate the weld joints. Looks good in my opinion, but not sure if it's accurate or not. *shrug*
