Hey, y'all.

Does anyone know of a base car I can use to create a '79-89 Ford LTD sedan? I seen a guy on another forum use the Revell Cadillac lowrider to create the Wagon Queen Family Truckster from NL's Vacation. Would that car work?

i recall a toy-like diecast (i THINK) of this car from the late '80's. you might get lucky searching Ebay for it. as it was a cop car it doubtless had holes in the roof for lights that need filled for a stock version. i'm surprised, actually, given the success of the two "Men In Black" movies that nobody filled this niche yet....... or a family truckster!

Matchbox made about an '85 or so police car in 1:64th diecast. There was a large scale (1:16th or so) plastic radio controlled toy police car of one (maybe an '89-90 or so) that I remember at TRU 15 years ago or so. Don't recall seeing anything in 1:24th or 1:25th.

Jeeze, Kev, from the looks of it,with them slab sides maybe you could go with a 65 Lincoln? Could you get a hold of an old Joker/Goon/T.J.Hooker/Dukes of Hazzard Dodge 4Dr Cruisers an convert it? Hard to tell from the pics jus what'll interchange/convert body wise.

Sounds like a lot of scratchbuilding...the '65 Lincoln is too big, the '77-78 Monaco completely different. It would be a complete scratchbuild, I'm afraid.

Thanks, guys. I'll check Ebay for that die-cast. Would the '80s Cadillac work?

That could have been the same gen Caprice, wouldn't be too tough to convert one of those though.

Not really... I think the best bet would be to start with sheets of flat styrene. It would be a LOT of scratchbuilding, but their really isn't anything close in 1:24th/1:25th scale. Too bad one was never kitted, even a curbside, police car modelers would have liked one back in the '80s.
