Car Crazy 81 Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) I havent did any progress on this one since Christmas one day i figured get this project back started so i did. I threw in a Big Block from a Revell 66 Chevelle Wagon kit and added a set of finned valve covers from a AMT 63 Corvette kit. The engine fits like a glove except i had to add a spacer on the tranny in order for the engine to sit right and i also added a set of headers from a Revell 67 Chevelle "Pro Street" kit. Im still working on the interior the bucket seats are from a AMT 66 Fairlane GT/A kit which looks better than the kits bench seat. Im still deciding on the color. The rallye wheels came from a Revell 67 Chevelle kit with parts box big & littles which are sourced from a Revell 56 Ford Pickup. Edited January 12, 2011 by Car Crazy 81
Sixties Sam Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Looks good so far! I like the subtle custom touches; wheels, seats, etc. That feature line running down the middle of the body kind of begs for a two tone color scheme. maybe candy red and silver for example. It will look good in any color(s)! Those old trucks are cool! Sam

hawkeye649 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Zenier diode, fuel filter? Nice idea in any event!
Car Crazy 81 Posted May 10, 2010 Author Posted May 10, 2010 Heres some progress on the Chevy the Turquoise paint that i'd applied back in February of 2009 went south it started showing bubbles so it went in the Purple Pond im planning on going with the primered look the paint that im gonna use is Dupli-Color Hot Rod Gray Primer which looks black almost.
Car Crazy 81 Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 I sprayed on the first stage of primer to find any additional flaws or seams.
Car Crazy 81 Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 I'd been kicking this around for a while the hood that i'd had on this one went on my 64 Chevy P/U Gasser project and had an unused hood in the parts box. I'd grafted the bottom portion of the hood onto the body i'll let the pics do the talking.
Car Crazy 81 Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Since the body was ready for paint i'd painted the cab, bed, tailgate & radiator support with Dupli-Color Cayman Green Metallic with a Silver Metallic base to brighten up the paint. Im 85 percent completed on this build.
Steven Zimmerman Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I like what you did with the hood....great idea !..........'Z'
Car Crazy 81 Posted October 26, 2010 Author Posted October 26, 2010 I'd been working hard on this one all weekend so heres where im at. I'd filled in the stock taillights in favor of a set from a 68 Charger i'd drilled a 1/8 inch hole on each side to countersink 'em. Also i'd scratchbuilt a bed mounted fuel tank out of a ink pen with parts box chrome caps with a watch winder gas cap & filled & smoothed the dash and added a aluminum backing from a Diet Coke can and added some gauges.
mikemodeler Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Looks great and the rake is just right. Nice custom touches and the pinstriping looks right at home. I think I am going to start painting all of my builds in primer- no polishing needed!
Car Crazy 81 Posted November 9, 2010 Author Posted November 9, 2010 Heres a recent pic of my 64 Chevy at last nights club meeting im at 98% percent on this one.
