simonr Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I wonder if someone can help me finding this color from the early '60's named Caribbean Pearl Blue Metallic used on the Aston Martin DB4. I had already tried autocolorlibrary.com and paintscratch.com with no success. Here's is a couple of pictures, I hope it can help: Thank you! Simón P. Rivera Torres
Brendan Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 I might have a close match to that paint. I'll have to look in my storage bins. You might want to contact Scale Finishes or MCW. Both of them can mix up paints. http://scalefinishes.com/ http://www.mcwautomotivefinishes.com/paint/catalog.html
Peter Lombardo Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Ok, maybe I am a simpleton, but why not mix up your own batch…..a little metallic blue mixed into a silver and “Bamâ€!!!, to quote a “has-been†chef, you have the color, or at the very worst, a very close match. I like to do things myself rather than look to someone else.
simonr Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Great Brendan I will appresicate alot if you can take a look and let me know what comes up. I already asked at MCW and they doesn't have it. I hope to hear from you very soon. Thanks!!! Simón I might have a close match to that paint. I'll have to look in my storage bins. Brendan Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Sorry, no luck. All the paints I have are way too blue. You might want to try looking up some Ford colors because Aston Martin used to paint a lot of the cars with a Ford paint. It looks pretty close to Windveil Blue Metallic. It looks like the Aston Martin has a little more silver to it. Sorry, I couldn't help.
ismaelg Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Panin! Ese color se parece un poco al Corvette Silver Blue del 1963 code 912. Chequea www.autocolorlibrary.com If nothing else at least you can see the paint chips online and get a close match from the same era. Saludos!

Rivera Torres Hey Simon, I know you might not have access to a PPG store, but they have an Aston Martin book with alot of the greens in there. I have several Aston Martin greens, but not the particular one you are looking for. I did, however, email Aston Martin directly ( I found their website and I think I emailed either the research dept. or just customer service or tech dept....one of them, well about 3 days later they sent me the paint code for the color I was looking for--the Aston Martin DBR1 that you saw in Salt Lake). They were very helpful. You may also try an Aston Martin club website and I'm sure you can get a paint code from someone. From that code you can have other paint brands mixed up by a cross reference guide at the store. Let me know if this helps! David
Zoom Zoom Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Check your PM's for my local contact who should be able to get that information for you, since they restore Aston Martins and we go to their shop before our NNL every year. I got their information from Henry Trent.

curt raitz Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 (edited) Hi Curt, could you tell me exactlly where in the scale finishes site I can find the color. I looked in the OEM section and Aston Martin it's not listed. Thanks Simón He lists it under "Racing Colors"...scroll all the way down to almost the bottom of the "Racing Colors" catagory, lists it as "Aston Martin Almond Green". My buddy Steve has this color and it looks dead on, at least in the bottle. Edited September 1, 2009 by curt raitz
Brendan Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Both Scale Finishes and MCW will mix up paints for you. Send an email with a picture to them and if possible, the paint code. They'll try to match the color for you. I know Jameston from Scale Finishes will do his darnest to try to match it for you. Even if he can't, he tries to find a close color for it. I've had really good experiences with his paints and with his service. He's the guy I use mainly for my paint supplies.
Zoom Zoom Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 check out http://www.scalefinishes.com.. he has the Aston Martin color your looking for premixed for airbrush application As mentioned in the text and by the color of the car in the photo, he's looking for a Caribbean Pearl Blue metallic color, not the iconic AM green that's listed on Scalefinishes. It's a nice color...hopefully if they get the code Scalefinishes can offer it to everyone
simonr Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 (edited) Finally... I found the color. An error in an email from Aston Martin UK cost me around $80. They gave me code #2627. For those interested in, the real code is #2027, PPG code #16826 What can do just a number! Also, the name of the color it's not Caribbean Pearl Blue, it's Chinchester Blue Poly. After some links that I got and some guessing, I got it! Thanks a lot to those who tried in any way to help me,...thanks guys! Now, I have a thread to start... Simón P.
