B_rad88
ok, i am a bit confused about this kit. after doing more research on the carrera rs&rsr cars, this model kit is a RS kit with RSR bumpers? most of the plain RS porsches have the "narrow"(flat) fenders and the "impact bumpers" but the RSR(narrow body) had the wide fenders(like whats in the kit) and the RSR bumpers(like whats in the kit) whitch is confusing. i am having a hard time trying to identify this kit. and also there isn't history about the color charts or the interior colors/options, so this is a kinda blind build. i have plenty of ref pics, but i have found out that there have been many many replicas of the RS/RSR. and i also found out many RS/RSR cars have been painted incorrect colors, so i am stuck again on that! and one other thing there is 2 different types of RSR cars, there is the "narrow" RSR body and then there is the RSR IROC (the wide body race cars) well this kit isn't the RSR IROC, so i know thats out of the question. please can anyone shead a little light on this please? i want to build this kit as accurate as possible! Thank you for your help! I greatly appreciate it! Brandon
crazyjim
Yo B-Rad, Bare Metal Foil comes in BLACK Chrome too. I've used it on several models. I found out early that you doun't want to hit it with any polishing compound or wax - the black rubs off.

crazyjim
Must be the same stuff because BMF makes only 1 black.

Lyn
Very Nice work there Tony. I like the red Here are some pictures of mine. One thing to note is the wheels wobble a bit, so either you'll have to glue them so they don't roll, or find a way to have them fit tighter to still roll, and be square to the ground. Oh, and mine doesn't have any rear view mirrors, and I see on the box that none are pictured. I don't remember why I painted the headlight lenses silver... A few more pics in the album here: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v383/lun...20Carrera%20RS/ It is still one of my favourite models! Lyn
wow! that looks sweet! you did a really good job! question, how did you do the black trim around the lights, bumpers, and windows? everytime i try it on a scarp model, i mess it up, big time! and thank you for pointing that out about the mirror, of the pics i have, i have only seen one side mirror and thats it! but lucky me, there is some extra parts thats in the kit, so i will be modding one of them to make the mirror. and ok, thank you for telling me about the wheels. i will most likely glue them on. thank you for the tips! i greatly appreciate it! Can't you just use some type of tape? like plumbers tape to help them fit? just curious if that would work

I also emailed that picture to my brother asking him to please find a list of the original colors for that car since thats what he does for a living LOL. http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classi...php/carno/71209

LOL, and if you notice, that says a "tribute car", that means its a replica/copy of the rs! so its not a true rs! and ok, cool! thank you very much! I found out early that you doun't want to hit it with any polishing compound or wax - the black rubs off. FYI, there is much complaining from many builders about the poor quality of BLACK BMF. It has very little "stick". The regular Chrome BMF seems to be OK, as far as the adhesive issue is concerned. The best solution? Spray a sheet of Chrome BMF with your favorite black spray! I did this years ago to a half sheet (used a piece of paper to cover the other half). It still works for me. I did use a fine steel wool on the BMF before spraying. Modelmartin
Tires melting parts on Revell kits was only on their older stuff through probably the late 60sor early 70s. I think the mid-70s kits had stiff 2 -piece vinyl tires which I always throw away. They are pretty awful. The Porsche should have the vinyl tires. That kit was a rework of the slightly earlier 911S and Both were the first 1/25 911 kits made as far as I know. Good luck on your build. The kit does go together easily but doesn't hold a candle in realism or accuracy to the Fujimi kits. Of course the Fujimi kits are a bear to put together. LOL! No I did not notice that.. why was it so much then?... either way I did try.. good luck Brandon oh ok, and its a porsche! all porsches going for big bucks, even if its a rust bucket, but the only "cheap" porsche is the 928, 924, 944 if they are in bad condish! they would still cost any where from $2,000- $5,000 for p.o.s.!
