JTRACING Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 wheels and tires. they came molded orange not chrome plated... so i had to use BMF to make the outer edges chrome and I painted the centers black. re-scribed all the panel lines. basic engine stuck together I went with a metallic brown for the color
Ryan S. Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Looking good so far. I've always loved the 70.5's.
george 53 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 WoW! beein ORANGE din't change that kit one bit! Your doin a GREAT job on it! LOVE the color, an the idea for the wheels is GREAT!!!! This'll be a KILLER when your done!!!
LVZ2881 Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 great job, especially on the wheels and engine!!!
cruz Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 You did great work bro, I will be following this one closely! The idea of the rims not being chrome is actually a good one, at least for me. I would much rather Alclad the rims than use BMF but again, that's me, you made it look very good. That color is also gorgeous, nice choice!!!
87 Grand Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Man that is just one beautiful color. It just looks period correct. Great job on the wheels. It looks like all of your polishing paid off. I love the Tamiya compounds, they work great. Oh yeah your engine is fantastic. Great job so far. Please keep us posted.
Modlbldr Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 That is looking great and the color does look period correct. Can you PM me a few tips on using the Tamiya compound. I bought a tube of the FINISH compound a while back but haven't tried it as of yet because, without instructions, I don't want to mess up a good paint job. It looks like you have it down and could lead me in the right direction. Thanks. Later-

Later- its easy to use, I like to wet sand everything with 2000 grit, wipe it dry as you go and just sand until its perfectly even. then just rub the polish on until you hear it squeak lol. i use scratch X as a final polish also. Alyn Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Wow, what's not to like on this car. Your wheel treatment, engine detail, paint. Every aspect of this build is looking top notch. I'll never forget a similar 70's root beer colored Z-28 I had to paint match in my younger days. That color is a real bear. Your paint is a good rendition of the one I remember. Hope the interior is on the way. Can't wait.
Janne Herajärvi Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Looks great so far! Very nice paintjob and that color pops!
Dragline Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 (edited) This is truly beautiful... I'm totally stealing the color and wheel ideas for the one I just bought. Your work is so clean and realistic. BMF work is top notch. Root Beer brown with envy... LOL Bob F Edited October 13, 2009 by Dragline
Marc @ MPC Motorsports Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Killer Camaro!!! And who said that these kits molded in colored styrene can't be built by pros? Is that metallic brown a factory color? I'm curious what paint you used.
JTRACING Posted October 13, 2009 Author Posted October 13, 2009 did a bit of interior painting Killer Camaro!!! And who said that these kits molded in colored styrene can't be built by pros? Is that metallic brown a factory color? I'm curious what paint you used. its GM dark brown. in the duplicolor spray cans. not sure if was around in 1970 but fits the era i think.
Albert Moore Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Whoa, look at that dashboard and door panel! Looks like it was just Armor-All'd. Man you do some excellent work. Cheers, Albert
MyBradKeselowski Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Sharp looking build, I like the color!!! Fantastic looking engine

JayC Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 This is going to be one cool build. I love Camaros and am stunned by the detail so far. The color looks great, too. When I saw the bits of interior my jaw just dropped.
