68 Firebird

Hello all-

Some of you have been following my WIP in the "Under Construction" section.....and I thank you.

Now it is finished and ready to move in here.

It's amazing to me how a kit that was such a joy to work on could turn EVIL in the final assembly. I had a bear of a time getting the chassis to mount into the body....and it is still not right. I'm not sure what the issue is. Also, I managed to get a drop of Super Glue on the top of the front driver's fender. Something to fix later.

Enough whining.... on to the bad photos.

Nice work. I am wondering if your fit issues stem from the wide wheels? Just a thought. The other thing, do you have a macro focus on your camera? If so, use it, as it will result in clearer pics. Great job on the build!

Thanks again for all of the kind words. I am really happy with the work on the interior.

Bruce- I'll bring it by for a closer inspection the next time I'm in town.

It's now on to the next project, finishing up my 70 1/2 Camaro convertible.

Look for it in the Workbench section.

Tom this puppy is beautiful, I have a spray can of A GM color almost I dentical here in my shop. I was gonna use it on a '69 firebird convertible, but hey that'd be weird a '67 Firebird and a '69 wearing the same clothes :):) I'm gonna use the color on a '79 camaro Berlinetta if I ever get a hood for it. Any who it looks really good Tom.

Thanks again guys.

Nick-

That color would look perfect on the 79 Berlinetta. I actually went to school with a kid who had a late 70's Berlinetta in a dark met. brown color that was very similar to it. Thanks. I hadn't thought of that car in years. B) He drove it like he stole it. On second thought, he just may have.....

Tom,

All of the detail work looks GREAT!! Especially the interior!!

Keep up the good work!!

Later,

I don't know what you use to remove cured super glue . I won't rub any more off/out . I have a '74 Vette with duplicolor factory finish . I dropped a goober of SG on the driver's door . Rubbed it down to the substrate , by hand . Substrate is through all layers of paint to the raw material . Currently it is displayed facing where it doesn't show the driver's door . Soon I must "Rotate my stock" .

I found a little bottle of Super Glue Remover . It does the trick without finish damage .

I like the Firebird . Excellent build . The finished product hides the fact it was fiddiley . The shift pattern was a shock . The interior right on . Keep them coming . Thanx..

Hey guys-

Thanks again for all of the kind words and taking the time to look.

Dimaxion-

I'll have to eventually figure something out to fix the SG spot. Quite possibly I'll just try to lightly sand it and tape off a small area around it, leaving the edge of the tape raised to keep from getting a raised paint or clearcoat edge. We'll see what happens.
