rronning84 Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 This is my first attempt at frame streaching it sucks.
Jim B Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Looks pretty good. Ok, stupid question time: what suspension is that?
mackattack Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Hey you did a great job stretching the frame and the stinger looks good! Lookin like a real one should look. I drive one every day and am building a logger myself of my dads first truck. I'll have to post some pics when i get back to it. But its lookin really good bud.
SpreadAxle Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 This is my first attempt at frame streaching it sucks. Oh it's not bad for a first try. I like it. Love the colors.
rronning84 Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 Looks pretty good. Ok, stupid question time: what suspension is that? It is just the stock suspension that came with the KIT (AMT ERTL 359).
rronning84 Posted January 3, 2010 Author Posted January 3, 2010 On a side note, these tires are the most miserable I have ever seen to work with. THey are to big for the wheels. Anyone have a good set or a link to a good set that will work for me better?
mackinac359 Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 The AMT Tires used in the 80s and 90's had the holes cut too big and the tire mold is bad as the middle tread is missing creating too skinng of a tire. Any of the AMT/MPC/Ertl Goodyears from the Mack DM, Dump Trailer, recent reissues, etc will work. Tim
Old Albion Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 Tim, I agree the tyres in the Pete kit are far to small for me. I have always preferred big rubber. If you look at a Pete 359 see how much the tyre fills the fender. The bigger the better for me. rronning84 It looks like your trailer has the tyres that Tim mentioned. I might be wrong though. Have you sorted the stripes out yet?? Good Luck with the build. Dave

My uncle is a pro airbrusher that does Harley Tank work. I am actually thinking of sending the cab and stuff to him.

To be true to the actual truck though I need a full set of 18 Italeri Peterbilt rims and tires as that is the style rim dads truck has. I would gladly pay if someone has a bunch of spares.
Paul B Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Looks great so far. The frame stretch and the stinger are nicely done.
Kostas Parchas Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I like this one! The frame rails are looking good stretched, you have done great job there. That blue PETERBILT is 378? have you already posted it before? If no, please post some photos.... Keep up the nice job. Kostas.
rronning84 Posted January 5, 2010 Author Posted January 5, 2010 The thread on the blue truck is a couple of pages back.
rronning84 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 These are some updated pics. I have a mockup cab on it right now (not the one I am painting) I also scored a 3406B from a KenWorth model I have along with the new rear fenders.
rronning84 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 The engine does not fit between the radiator and the fire wall with either radiator.
dad vader Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 The engine does not fit between the radiator and the fire wall with either radiator. You could always deepen the center portion of the firewall,This would reduce a little leg room, but hey just hire a shorter driver for it.
rronning84 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Would that be very noticeable? I need help figuring out how to paint the stripes on this thing. I have the Maroon base coat laid down and it has been drying for 3 days. How do I apply the orange and tape it all off? I am scared of painting this thin. I am seriously considering having someone else paint it.
rronning84 Posted January 25, 2010 Author Posted January 25, 2010 Got some basic plumbing done. Thanks to all of those that gave me the links. One coat of primer and three coats of base and this is where I am at.
mackattack Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 He thats lookin really good! like the plumbing work you did on the motor. Might try that myself on the Kenworth W900 logger Im workin on. What did you use to plumb it with?
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Great job, Ryan. My uncle own his own logging truck company. I know its a little late, but I would add a third axle on the tractor. Those are very common up here.
