Smart-Resins
Alright, in a different post, someone offered me a 41 Willys that has been converted to a panel van. The challenge from Arick Hey Jody I'm the one that built the Willys Panel. Its a combination of a Willy's coupe and a 40 Ford sedan delivery. Don and I are immersed in keeping TDR Innovations exciting and don't have the time to finish the Willy's, so we've got a challenge for you.............. You put together a group of fellow forum modelers who would like to see this thing finished. We'll give you the body and you and the group finish it any way you want. When its finished, draw one name from the group (excluding Don and I) and that person wins the finished build. If its a go, PM me with your address and the body will be shipped to you first. So the body will be in the mail to me from Don on Monday. We have Rat Fink who will join in. If anyone else is interested in this project, let me know. Thanks. Here is a pic of the model. Thanks. crazyjim
Jody, I don't get it. How are other people supposed to help if they don't live around you?
diymirage
i thought this would be really cool to do but how ? i mean, there is only one body and one person who is working on it what do the rest of us do ?
Smart-Resins
Mail order express my friend. We ship it to each other. every person does something to the model wether its painting it or building the chassis or building the motor or building the interior, final assebly, detail what have you. Jordan White
Isn't this just like the "Snowball project"? Edited February 6, 2010 by YJIslander
Smart-Resins
Yes, same idea. My favorite is paint also! LOL. We can figure these out once we have a list of all who wants in and what we are best at and want to do the most! Jody
diymirage
i wouldnt mind building the engine for it though im not sure what to slap in there i just got a great inline six turbo diesel in on a trade that would barely fit in there id like to slap that one in but then then body person needs to fix that hole in the hood
Smart-Resins
That certainly would be different! We are also getting the willys in the picture for the chassis etc. I have some spare parts from a willys here. I know I have one of those engines. Also have a older style Hemi. A ford, and a cheby or two. So that playing field is wide open! Whats that diesel look like? it certainly would make it different! Being a panel, if someone wanted to do the work, one could also make it a rear engine set up maybe?Would have to be a v drive set up. Jody the inline six is somewhere around a 12 liter or so, it was pulled from a semi and i was saving it for a pick up truck it would have to portrude into the drivers cabin like a drag car would it may look a hair large for this build though i have a few more engine options laying around myself someone metioned a rear engine set up, i have a little VW bug engine laying around also have a 2 liter ford focus engine somewhere and i believe i have a inline 6 turbo from a supra or something ill snap some pic tomorrow of the semi engine it is put together and painted but if it goes in here ill paint and detail it like it would be a custom build engine
diymirage
heres a picture of that engine i added the mudstank for size refference same scale you know it looks just a tad large for that willys but it sure would spin them wheels

Jody if were downsizing anyway, how bout we do this ? we slap in a 2 liter from a focus, turbo charge it and conver it to FWD that way, we can drop the loading floor way down (its a delivery van right?) Smart-Resins
Alright, a quick update on this beast. I had soaked it in the purple pond to remove the paint that was on it so I could do some more bondoing on it to make it look a tad better as I was not happy with it! When I pulled it from the lake, it had fallen to pieces on the back. I got very discouraged and threw it into a box of junk. Now I had given my word to make sure it got built so I couldnt throw it away like I wanted to! LOL. It has been quite a while now and just about forgotten about it. Last night someone had asked me if I had done anything to it and I had said NO! Well I ended up going through some boxes looking for stuff for someone and I happened to pull this out last night. Sitting on top of it was a old wagon rod body wich I had thought I had gotten ridf of! LOL. I happened to look at it and recalled a pic of a real willys panel I had seen and double checked the pic. Sure enough, not too far off. So I was up for over three hours hacking and chopping and sliceing and diceing. Finially was happy about 3AM today! I am including a couple of pics of 39 and 40 and 41 willys to compare the body lines too! Not quite the same, but you will notice, closer. I am happier with this and it is back into business! I will also share some pics of the job! Thanks.
