Merkur XR4Ti Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) I finished this one a while ago but am just getting around to taking pictures of it now. This is Jo-han's '68 Chrysler 300. I found a very nice built-up kit on that auction site that had not a spot of paint on it, so I disassembled it and built it from the ground up again with all the proper coloring. The paint is Turbine bronze from MCW, with a topcoat of Testor's Wet Look Clear Lacquer. I didn't really add anything fancy to this one (I forgot to take a shot of the engine but it's just box stock). The only real modification I did was to add spacers to bring the wheels/tires out to their proper positions (otherwise they're way too far inward on the chassis.) I need to create license plates, but this one's otherwise done. I really enjoyed building this huge beast. Edited February 21, 2010 by Merkur XR4Ti
crazyjim Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Wow Steve. It looks like you just drove it out of the showroom.
lordairgtar Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 That is one nice model. I had one when I was younger but it got played with extensively and became broken
george 53 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Very NICE clean build,Merk! That was always a pretty styled car. So much so, that there ISN'T much you can do to improve on it! You did a great job on it! i LIKES it !!!
Kris Morgan Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Very nice job. That kit is way up on my want list.
Railfreak78 Posted February 21, 2010 Posted February 21, 2010 Now there is one you don't see everyday! Great looking rare car
Crusader101 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Very beautiful work indeed! If it were mine I'd forego adding license plates and leave the '1968' visible as to maintain its vintage appeal.
Harry P. Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 ...I disassembled it and built it from the ground up again with all the proper coloring... Except you forgot to paint the turn signals amber...
tuffone20 Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 You did a great job on that 300!! I really like the color and a very nice save. I have an unbuilt one that I need to get a rear bumper for because for some reason it had 2 front bumpers in it and no rear bumper? And after seeing this one it makes me want to get mine out and build it.
Merkur XR4Ti Posted February 22, 2010 Author Posted February 22, 2010 Except you forgot to paint the turn signals amber... Nice catch, Harry! I should be able to touch them up very easily.
Monty Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Now that's a work of aaaaarrrrttaaa! (Well, it is a 300, you know) In all seriousness, that's an incredible build. Way to go.
