crispy Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 What a great kit by Aoshima. My only harangue is the chassis and body mating. The front just doesn't seem to want to stay together. Other than that this kit was engineered very well and I really liked the way some assemblies when together. Especially the head and tail light areas. Couple pics of the final product. Will get outdoor shots later when it warms up. Then we can see the beautiful pearl pop! More MBSL63 AMG here. Chris
Railfreak78 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Super clean high end ride. Nice wheel choice how much do those run? I'm not a Benz fan but this work is fantastic
MrObsessive Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Beautiful work Chris! A not too often seen car in these parts! That interior contrast is spot on!
crispy Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 (edited) Thanks guys. This was my first actual Aoshima kit to build and I was very impressed. I utilized the springs in my suspension and figure if I had left them out I might get a little bit more ground hugging stance. Brian, as far as kit cost: Kit w/shipping $44.50 Wheel kit $10.00 Paint $12.00 Bill, I have to thank my wife on the scheme. I was very apprehensive about it all coming together. She did a great job figuring it out for me. I also had found a picture of a 500Sl with a similar interior and that helped too. That's about the cost of all materials there. I'd certainly recommend this kit to anyone that likes these cars. I hope we can see the Black Edition soon. Chris Edited March 26, 2010 by crispy
vizio93 Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 That is one sexy 1:1 ride, and you did a beautiful job of recreating that
Zoom Zoom Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Looks nice; did you test fit the chassis at all before the front clip was glued in place? There's a slot/tab under there that might be tricky to know if it's seated or not if you didn't pre-assemble and see where it fits before the front clip is added. If you were to carefully pull out the chin from the lowest point up front, and then push down on the chassis at the very front, that should snap it in place and seat it, unless there's something on your assembly that's getting in the way.
MikeMc Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Very well done....wheels,colors, attitude.......PERFECT!!! gotta get me one!!
crispy Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 Thanks guys! Bob, yes, I did pre-fitments all the way through. You are exactly right in your assessment of that tab not seated. I wrestled with it and it snapped in and now she sits sooo much better. I now will share some outdoor shots I took of the car: Check out that drop on the front suspension now! YAY! IF you click my initial link you'll note I have taken 22 more photo's of the car outside. Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG Thanks again for the comments guys. Bob, thank you for the help throughout my journey on the car. Some stuff you mentioned to me really helped out. Chris
