Guest madazzskilzkustumz Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 This isnt a real Roadrunner becuase it is a Volare. Real RoadRunners were from the 1960s and 1970s..the kit makes a orange one but the declas were wette'd like the MONZA. I made rootbeer brown and mask of the classic white an airbrush'd it with my paaschee H. See how the front is lower- I thought it was custom or (Kustom) but know Im not so shur. Like I siad in the progres part it has tires form 1972 stepside Chevy on back an daully exsaust. good thing I did'nt have it all done when I had to put it in progess setion! I use sharpy pen for trim and piant for door lines shadow so it maches hood line and a wash for the mag wheels and paint'd the RAISED WHITE LETTER tire's. I had to brush paint the customised grill and light detials but I did it real clean an straite. I took better pitures this time to. Commets and complements welcome!
Casey Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 The Road Runner package was based on the Plymouth Volare coupe from '76-'80, so it is a real Road Runner, just heavier on decals and lighter on performance than the earlier versions. The paint scheme you selected in very reminiscent of the '78 Dodge/Plymouth Super Coupe paint schemes, or at least the paint break is very close:
caine440 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 While they will not hold a candle to the earlier Roadrunners they were quick for their day and could hold their own against the Fords and GMs of the time. Nice little build. I bet I built 10 of these when they were new when I was a kid.
Sixties Sam Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice car! I like how you did the two-tone color scheme. Sam
VW Dave Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice looking model, and your pictures have gotten a little better.
Railfreak78 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice! And yes indeed they are right about that body being a real Road Runner. It's the body style after the one in my avitar picture that most people did not like much. This style is more popular than the one I like Cool car!
Harry P. Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 The last Road Runner sold as a distinct standalone line of cars was the '74 model. In '75 the Road Runner became an option package available on the full-size Fury, and in '76 through '80 the Road Runner was an option package available on the Volare. So whether any '75 through '80 Road Runner is a "real" Road Runner depends on how you look at it, I guess. You could say that the later year RRs were "real" RRs, because they were... real! They were real cars that were really sold and you could really buy them. But they were not unique models; since they were option packages that turned another car (Fury or Volare) into a "Road Runner," I guess you could also make the argument that they were no longer "true" Road Runners like the '68 through '74 models had been.
jedimastergary Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Looks like a nice build good colors and nice detail
RodneyBad Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Great looking RoadRunner. The 2-tone paint looks great on it and gives it a much meaner look. Great Job..
charlie8575 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 That did come out very nicely. I like the color combination. Charlie Larkin
Guest Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice work! They were gutless cars, but still looked nice.

Tumbler75 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Your pictures are improving 10 times fold. Your "Road Runner" Volare is well executed and the paint scheme is a dead ringer for Mopars. I myself bein' a Mopar Nut. I never owned a Volare based Road Runner but did own a rarer beast that I wish came in kit. Below is a pic of something CLOSE but not exact. Great job! You are well on your way to greatness.
ricky12 Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Nice job I like the way you did the two tone .I just wish those kit hadn't came with t tops !!!!!
Guest madazzskilzkustumz Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Some people -who shall remain unnamed- have said not 2 listen 2 me because they were 2 lazy to look 2 see that I do build and share unlike many who R hear to jest point and ramble-on. So since they are 2 lazy I do the work 4 them and share, since I am still building something newer. This masage has bean spell checked and approved bye JIMMY! THANKS!
Guest madazzskilzkustumz Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Thanks! Yes he does. BUTT I MADE THIS! And U know it. Please be nicer in your responses. U R bean mean and U know it. Thanks JIMMY!
Danno Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 your daddy builds nice models Got evidence, Dave? If so, share it with us. I've seen it happen, but I've also seen some youngsters build some pretty decent models.
Guest madazzskilzkustumz Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Thank You Danno. He's jest sore because I know more about my models I build then he does. I used to think he was nice but now he sounds jealous of me. I even take the molding lines off that I see he leaves all over his models. I can paint glossy he paints primer alot. I try harder 2 make good models. I don't know how hard he tries. Maybe if he put the work he uses to lie about my models in to his models he could build better? Thanks JIMMY!
Guest madazzskilzkustumz Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Thanks! But keep trying and even U can improve! JIMMY!
Agent G Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 (edited) Touche' What ever the real car was, or wasn't, this model looks ok to me. Using a (Pashee?) ahem, airbrush shows a fair bit of confidence. By the way, I drove a 1980 Volare with a 360 under the hood. 4dr PD package POS, bench seat like a piece of plywood. I swear it had steel bars instead of shocks, but that puppy would go like stink in a straight line. Lasted all of 13 months when fleet said Oh H%(( no! and replaced it, with a Fairmont.................... G Edited October 24, 2010 by AgentG
FUSIONBOY Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) Nice build Jimmy, car looks great in the 2-tone. If my muddled memory serves me,these were also around the time you could build a racecar through Direct connection, aka the Dodge parts guys. I wonder if a dealer still has some of those big 43 decals stashed away somewhere? Edited October 25, 2010 by FUSIONBOY

I wonder if a dealer still has some of those big 43 decals stashed away somewhere? I will have to trust you on that it is way older then me. And the airbrush is a VL type. That is easier to wright because spell check can't help the "P" word. Thanks Jimmy!

If I recall correctly a lot of those parts were, ahem, interchangeable with the police package parts which were "hard to come by". G
