Mr. Can Am Garage Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I finished this last week at this time just in time for NNL East. Paint is Viking Blue from Scale Finishes.

Mr. Can Am Garage Posted April 23, 2010 Author Posted April 23, 2010 John - More than one person told me that was pretty. Bill - Thank you.
cotto Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 This is nice, now all you need to do is get together with Cruz and do a nice photo shoot, they are both gorgeous!

FordWagonNut Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 WOW! I can smell that new car smell. Didn't "Mike Brady" drive one in the 90s Brady Bunch movies like this one?
W-409 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Beautiful Olds Nice job specially the interior looks very nice.
charlie8575 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Very nice; I'm still trying to decide what I want to do for mine for colors. Charlie Larkin
FordWagonNut Posted April 24, 2010 Posted April 24, 2010 Here it is, Brady Bunch movie from the '90s: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_257988-Oldsmobile-Cutlass-1971.html http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_181835-Oldsmobile-Cutlass-1971.html
sjordan2 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 This is a truly beautiful piece of work. Let me ask you this – my biggest gripe about this hobby is the metallic paint available, which to my eyes always has too much prominent metalflake for the scale, yet this build looks just right. Can you tell me more about the paint?
Mr. Can Am Garage Posted April 25, 2010 Author Posted April 25, 2010 This is a truly beautiful piece of work. Let me ask you this – my biggest gripe about this hobby is the metallic paint available, which to my eyes always has too much prominent metalflake for the scale, yet this build looks just right. Can you tell me more about the paint? The '72 Olds Viking Blue that I used is 1:1 automotive paint. That color and all the others that were used on the '72 Olds plus WAY more are available from http://www.scalefinishes.com/ If Jameston doesn't have it, odds are he can mix it. I haven't stumped him yet and I've made some pretty oddball requests (CN Orange, '53 Studebaker colors among others). All his paint is airbrush only and please take all the necessary precautions (resperator, chemical proof gloves and a spray booth). Thank you all for the kind words on my build.
Scalefinishes Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 That is great looking. The more I see these built, the more I want one. The Olds Viking blue is the same color as Chevy Mulsanne Blue.
DRG Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 That is absolutely fantastic. Great paint job and the detailing is awesome. Being new, it's been forty years, the workmanship on the models I am seeing is making me think maybe I better try something else.
lrlocke01 Posted May 11, 2010 Posted May 11, 2010 WOW that is a beautiful ride. I love a stock build, and you nailed it.
